Thanks!** A: These are fastened together with a rivet, so fully locked into place and fully closed, they will hold a good amount of weight. There are no specs on them as they are made overseas, but they are a thick and strong metal. In between fully open and closed, the rivet is loose and will not hold any weight at all. However, I was really ticked off to find that there were no screws or any sort of instructions included in the package. I was able to use the screws from the old lid support and went to youtube to find instructions before I drilled new holes. But that wasted a lot of my time and was really not appreciated. If you're not going to include screws, SAY SO and offer a link for instructions. It's really not that hard to include that info in a listing.
