I noted it was factory calibrated with CS-137 and has a certification sticker on the back with date/technician name. For the professional it's noted in the description it can be NRC certified if needed for addition cost, but for my needs factory calibration is sufficient. The cost for the NRC certification is $125.00 plus shipping. The GCA-06W is sent to a independent U.S. government licensed lab that will perform the NRC certification. The process takes about two weeks after receipt of the GCA-06W by the manufacturer. **Q: Does " nrc certification ready mean " that i still have to send the item to a us lab. and spend 120 $ extra ? or is it all set to use ?** A: Yes, ready means it is ready to be NRC certified. You would need to spend an additional $125.00 to have this certification performed. The Digital Geiger counter is ready to use, with or without the NRC certification. The NRC certification proves the accuracy of the radiation readings. **Q: Does the manufacturer make a storage case for this unit?** A: Not that I know of, but, if you go to a military surplus store, you will find an appropriate case for this detector. I recommend a semi hard bag or pouch. **Q: My understanding is that g/m tube units like this "saturate" at higher levels (nuclear war or accident) of radiation, and indicate very low. true???** A: All GM tubes saturate at high radiation levels. This particular GM tube would saturate around 10,000 pulses per second. We have laboratory tests up to one Rad of radiation. At this high level the Geiger counter is still responding properly. We do not have the facilities to test above one Rad radiation level to determine how this Geiger counter would respond. Sorry.
