Instant fix!
I saw my wife about to throw out our KA blender. She said it was not working and there were bits of plastic at the coupler. Our unit is well over a decade old. I checked and indeed the coupler had perished (rubberized plastic). Luckily I looked on Amazon and saw this part was a typical failure and somewhat easy to replace. I ordered this pack - which had five couplers and the removal tool for the same price as many of the two packs. I have photos of the failed part and the new part. Fits well and works as the original. Will update on longevity if needed, but so far save my unit from the recycle bin! (And these units are pretty expensive). Note: as others have mentioned removal and install of the coupler is opposite to normal as the treads are reversed which is typical in rotation devices (so they don’t get loose with use) - such as circular saws and angle grinders too. I used the supplied tool and channel locks to get the old one off. Review as of Dec 2024.

Durable, very easy to install.
I’m so glad that I can actually change the part instead of changing the whole blender. The part appears to be as durable as the original, and it was a breeze to install. One thing to pay attention to is that the part is reversed threaded so tightening is actually loosening the part. 🙂

Great repair item
This fit our kitchen aid blender very well. We seem to destroy the coupling every few years, so having spares on hand is good. Note that in some cases you can remove the old coupling using the "inertia" method (whack the gear sharply and rely on the inertia of the motor to hold the shaft still), but that doesn't aways work. It those cases the wrench is very handy.

Cures this blender's only flaw
This is probably the sixth or seventh time I have replaced this part in the past10 years. It beats paying to replace the whole machine. The only issue is that the included wrench is nearly worthless. It eventually came off but not before completely destroying the old part.

Rescuing my blender.
The rubber shoe that drives my blender disintegrated after 10 years. I was looking for another and found this 5 pack that will last for another 50 years (this blender will live after me...). There's a metal wrench in the package to help you remove the old shoe and install the new one but you'll have to use another wrench to twist in the opposite direction or it will not come of (or on). Other than that, it works fine. The blender is smashing ice like a champ.

Very easy to install
First - Why does the coupler break in the first place? - one way to break it is by assembling the jug incorrectly after washing it. The rubber gasket has to touch against the glass... if the gasket is placed against the plastic side instead, the drive shaft will be too high for the coupler (it reaches it only with its fingertips) and it will break. The rubber gasket "looks right" in either position, but only the glass side is correct and checking it will keep the coupler alive for a long time! (Ask me how I know...) It is literally a 2 minute job to install a new coupler. You will need a pair of pliers (the Channelock type is perfect for this). The easiest way to remove the old coupler is to just slide the little wrench under the coupler on the blender, then grab the coupler with the pliers and turn it CLOCKWISE (turning right) to unscrew it from the shaft. Note that this is the opposite direction of normal screws! To install - just screw the new coupler on ANTICLOCKWISE (turning left) while holding the shaft with the wrench. Hand tight is enough as this thread is self tightening during use. As far the the product is concerned, the material and workmanship look and feel good - the blender works as new again.

cheaply made but they work.
They work but they don't have the stainless steel thread insert for longevity.

I have used 3 of these already, as other users in the household (and me) will shred the part every few years. a very cheap way to keep your kitchenaid blender forever and saving it form landfill. worth it. every time. lots of youtube videos dedicated ot epxlaining, with variang degrees of clarity, how to do the installation. they are rigth, the aluminium part of the screw just rips off the strong steel component its attached to, without damaging the base unit. have fun out therein kitchenaid land...
