It is great, does the job

This mahl stick fits the job. I usually paint on 12x16 canvas. This is with the buy and not flimsy at all.

Replacement for the other one I've used for 39 years. This one is superlight weight and is a 3 piece so you can adjust for available space or canvas size.

My pulse is all over the place and extremely shaky, so I tend to struggle with delicate strokes. This was just what I needed: resistant, long, but not so much it gets in the way; doesn't bend under pressure, isn't too heavy and it's thin enough that it doesn't feel bothersome while working. Great to have clean work! The only thing that I would change would be the plastic tip, as it's rough and uncomfortable over canvas, but that can be fixed easily with cotton and scrap fabric. Fully recommended, especially since it's so affordable.

Really like this product. I had never used one before & often struggled to keep from smudging paint. I tried a wooden stick without much luck. The ball on the end works well as an anchor.

I have bought two other mahl sticks from Amazon and I'll be damned if I can find them. So...I went back to order a third one! At first, I was a bit taken aback by how light it was and worried it might not be as useful as my others were. Not to worry! It's great and I love it. It does come loose at the screw joints at times. That's why I gave it only 4 stars.

I am one of those dorks who actually made her own mahl stick in 2020. I used a dowel, a Styrofoam ball, a piece of brown felt, and bits of this and that, and it worked great. But then my life got turned upside-down and I had to leave it behind. Lo and behold Amazon was selling one that you could break down into three pieces and actually store. (This is about the same length as the stick I made. Imagine trying to carry that in a backpack.) The really cool thing about this mahl stick is you are not limited to one length. You've actually, potentially got three different lengths you can work with for at least three different paper sizes. And if you want to only use two of the stick pieces, you can use the "bulb" end and then the outer end and those will screw together without the middle piece. Et voilà.

I have a hand tremor, so I need something to rest my hand on that isn't what I'm drawing or painting. This stick does the job. I like that I can adjust the length to fit the project. Very happy with the purchase.
