Advertised to cut up to 1-5/8" pvc pipe however answer(s) from customers say it won't cut 1-1/2" pvc pipe. which is it?

It won't work with 1-1/2" PVC. Too small. It will cut 1 1/2" p trap for vanity. But NOT 1/2" PVC. CRAP :)

How to open the blade, is it difficult?

I am a woman. For me, it is easy to operate. First open the security lock, the handles on both sides will automatically pop open, then manually open the handle to the maximum extent, the blade will automatically open.
