Nursing Care Plans: Diagnoses, Interventions, and Outcomes (NURSING CARE PLANS: NURS DIAG/ INTERVENTION ( GULANICK))

This is a large reference book, however this one is the most complete and comprehensive I have found to date. I do have several care plan books - but each one with the exception of this volume is devoted to a nursing specialty. Each nursing diagnosis developed is based on the NANDA International label unless it is otherwise specified. The first chapter covers utilized care plans to individualize and improve care for your patients. It gives you a basic guideline to follow in the development of care plans for your patient. The format is alphabetical starting with Activity Intolerance and ending with Urinary Retention. Subsequent chapters expand on these categories as they are related to the patient's progress through the system i.e., pre- or post-operative care, chemotherapy, integumentary issues, renal and urinary tract issues, etc. The book is very thorough and helped me to understand how the different parts and pieces of a care plan are related and how to develop and execute a care plan that leads to better outcomes for the patient. Great book, I use it alot, the pages are getting dogeared and marked up.

My only complaint about this book is that I wish I had known about it my first semester of nursing school. This has helped me tremendously with my concept maps. I love the way the book is set up by disease and how straightforward and cut and dry the information is. Using this books, my concept maps have always been deemed "excellent" and it has cut my time by more than half. I wish our nursing program had recommended this book to us for our care plans instead of the one they did. Life would have been so much easier!

After two grueling quarters of nursing school without any book to help with care plans, I wised up. This book is amazing. It's very in-depth, provides tons and tons of interventions and nursing diagnoses and really helps when writing your care plans. Though there is no way for the book to cover every problem you encounter in the clinical setting, it has nice generic interventions for major organ systems, which really helps. A large amount of classmates were asking to borrow my book after I was able to finish clinical care plans overnight with the help of this book. You'll really thank yourself (and so will your sanity) for this purchase. Completely worth every penny.

A lot of good information to help you write care plans. I knocked off one star as the on-line support is not as good as they try to make it seem. Also, despite the amount of information, don't be surprised if you are using this for nursing school if teachers don't accept all the information as presented. Care plans can be very useful but schools seem to use them as ransom over students heads about their grades.

This book was excellent for helping write these stupid required care plans.

I brought this for my nursing students in the clinical setting. They said it was helpful for written care plans and finding nursing diagnosis for their patients. Would recommend this book for nursing students.

I love this book! I use it to supplement my other nursing diagnosis books and bounce off ideas for my care plans. But this book makes student nurse life a little more easier with eye friendly pages and easy to understand tips and tricks. I especially love how the book classifies diseases into systems such as pneumonia being in respiratory system, along with possible diagnosis, goals, interventions and rationales. Life made easier!

This is a great book for writing your care plan. It great interventions and rationales and easy to use. I would not buy the kindle version of this book though. Referencing is hard because there are no page numbers. WHERE in the world are the page numbers??? What page am I REALLY on? No one knows. It only says location 7 thousand and something. This book does not have 7 thousand pages!
