Little vacuum, lots of power.
This vacuum sucks. And I mean that in the best way possible. I got this as a quick thing to pull out to vacuum the steps and upstairs landing. I have 2 dogs and a cat. So the fur is constantly everywhere. I am also supposed to go for surgery and got this so that way I can vacuum without waiting for anyone else. Honestly best decision ever. It worked amazing in the whole house. I decided to just completely test it out right after taking it out the box. Set up is super easy and once the attachments are on, game on. There is some pros and cons. Pros: -light weight -amazing suction -easy to use -swivel head -compact Cons: -small dump tray -shot cord -motor blows debris from steps Honestly though, for the convenience, I ll happily empty it over and over. I have trash cans in almost every room, so whatever. Short cord, eh, extension cords are a thing. And for the motor blowing stuff out, someone else previously stated to cover most of it with painters tape. No problem. Honestly, if you want something quick to use without grabbing the bigger vacuum especially after pets or kids, this is a game changer. Totally will buy again!!

Great little vacuum!
For the price, this little vacuum is great. I bought it because I have hardwood floors and kids who leave crumb trails everywhere they go. I needed something fast and efficient. The suction power is okay. It great for small things, like dirt and crumbs. But, I do find it struggles a bit with larger things, like cereal. It’s still 100% with it to me though, considering the reasonable price and ease of use. My only real issues with it are related to the attachment. 1) It doesn’t stay on very securely. For example, I have kids - which means I have crumbs in the couch cushions regularly. I’d love to be able to have the attachment stay on while I vacuum the crumbs from between the cushions, but it is simply too lose and gets lost in the cushion cracks too. 2) I wish they would have allowed for a spot for the attachment to hook onto the back of the actual vacuum. We always have to hunt for it. But I think I may solve that with some Velcro. Oh, and I do find this works perfectly fine on my medium pile living room rug. I just take my time running it over the rug and it works fine. So, it’s not just for hardwoods - and that’s a plus.

Wow, so impressed with this little vacuum!
Wow, so impressed with this little vacuum! I needed a small vacuum for daily use in the kitchen. I have two children, a dog and a cat and hated lugging out the big heavy vacuum to clean up little messes. When I found this small vacuum by Black & Decker, I didn’t hesitate to buy it, because I always have consistent luck with their products and the price was great. It was very easy and quick to put together. When I turned it on, I was pleasantly surprised by it’s powerful motor and suction. It picked up everything, including popcorn, dog hair and even a few small lego’s. It’s easy to maneuver around and under furniture and cabinets. I love how it swivels for accessing tight corners and allows me to get into areas I couldn’t get into with my big vac. I was so excited by the power of this little vac, that I continued vacuuming my entire downstairs with it. The plug is surprisingly long and I was able to cover a lot of space. It glides easily on my hardwood floors and even has robust power on my sisal and shag area rugs to do the job of a big vacuum. I love that it can also be used as a small handheld tool, comes apart easily and is compact enough to fit in my pantry. It also stands on it’s own and the cord wraps up neatly, which is an added plus for me when storing it. It comes with two brush accessories for using on the handheld when vacuuming furniture and tight spaces. My only wish is that there was a place to store these accessories on the vacuum, because they will get lost in my house. All in all, very happy with this purchase and for this price, I will definitely buy another for our upstairs and one for our camper too.

Needs better design
I agree with so many of the negative reviews. The vac would be awesome if b&d fixed some stuff. I bought this vac because I am a breast cancer patient and after surgery/chemo/radiation and with my current treatment, I am tired and VERY deconditioned. Therefore, I needed something light and easy to use. Not to mention... isn't it adorable?!!.....well not so much now.... Suction would be adequate if the hole in the bottom of the head wasn't tiny..... like sucking peas up thru a straw. Why even have a wide head if it's not functional? You vacuum one leaf and it stops it up worse than a drain at the hair salon. Not to mention the plastic flap thing inside the canister that is not removable traps dirt and crap.... Took me 30 minutes to clean that with a tiny brush just for it to fill back up before the 1st full swipe across the floor. But that I could tolerate. What's worse? The floor head (with the tiny hole) is so hard to remove that you have to stand on it to get it off. Then what happens you ask? Your clean floor has a pile of dirt that now needs to be vacuumed up again. Or swept (isn't that what I'm trying to avoid?) After pulling the head off like that so many times, the swivel loosens and the head flops around like a dying chicken. Every.time.you.pick.the.damn.thing.up. So then you're fighting the dying chicken vacuum head just to get it to stand up straight on the floor like a child slumped over the dinner table at a classy restaurant. & the vac does not succumb to the slap in the back we got when gma saw us slumpin....and if that isn't how you are supposed to remove the head, why isn't there directions? (Because yes, I am somewhat of a rule follower and I did look for directions).... also, being somewhat OCDish... it is wonderful that I can take the thing apart and wash the canister and filter (good idea b&d....in theory) but what am I to do while the filter is drying and I want to vacuum?.... well, the never-fail-me amazon does not have replacements. Where are the replacement filters?! Even in South Alabama, those things don't try as quickly as you'd think! Buttttttt I've still been vacuuming my lil clean floor loving ❤️ out.... until the chicken head broke off the neck... well put it back on, you say? That'd be ideal....if I could find it. You see, these sweet babies of mine... you know the whole reason I need to vacuum every.single.day..... sweet, precious kitten baby, Winston... apparently found the little chicken neck before I did and made it into his own personal hockey puck. So now..... I am forced to sweep and thoroughly research a new vacuum so that I never.have.to.do.this.again while Winston plays his own version of hockey hide and go seek with the chicken neck I so DESPERATELY need to maintain somewhat of a clean house before I have to start selling fur jackets from Winston's brother's fur.... enter, Wyatt, the toy aussie. Sincerely, dying in dog hair.

Just as with most other B&D items, trash in quality and performance.
After about two years of owning this, I have used it a grand total of seven times. And you know what? This is legitimately just e-waste; there is nothing of value in this. Terrible power, terrible suction, as loud as a regular-sized and regular-powered vacuum cleaner, and capable of choking and overheating after less than five minutes of usage. AVOID, just save up and buy a canister vacuum on sale. For misc. details, here: --Chokes on literally anything that you put into it, even a tiny tuft of hair. --The retention mechanism (a single felt-like flap that clips into the plastic frame) combined with the poor power means that you'll often get clogging for any decent amount of material, or even spilling after using it and turning it off. --Complete plastic construction, but worse: the frame itself starts to rapidly heat up within three minutes of usage, right up to the handle. Five minutes of going over my kitchen floor for dusting led to the handle getting warm, almost hot to the touch, and this was after cleaning and unclogging it. --Sat for this entire time mainly just on my utility shelf, and even for the tiniest of messes, it cannot suck them up to justify the money I spent on this. --After dusting it off, unclogging it yet again, and running it through a meager square inch of sawdust, it couldn't even suck it all up. I threw it in the trash, used my can vac that I bought for $50, and decided to write this review.

A Must Have for Small Apartments and Messy Cats
After doing a bit more research than I was comfortable doing buying a cheap vacuum cleaner I noticed a common problem on these smaller hand conversion models was suction power. I had to dig through reviews to find this fatal flaw that seemed to plague all but a few. This Black and Decker was cited in numerous instances to lack the aforementioned. I can attest that "lack the aforementioned" it does. While still being price-wise I can express that for my beautiful two bedroom upstairs Victorian apartment, it certainly does the job. The cat litter, the dust, food parcels, car hair, cat litter, cereal, cat litter, oh God all the cat litter. My feline is a loveable thing, albeit rather insistent on breaking the stereotypes of cats being neat and tidy. But I digress. I was impressed by the lightweight, and though I initially scoffed at the "swivel technology" notification I daresay I certainly appreciate it now. All in all for the size and price I'm giving this five stars. Notably I have read other reviews that detract significantly from the overall rating pertinent to the cost and availability of filters, I'm convinced myself that models like this will inevitably require such accommodations, and therefore I didn't factor it into my rating. Others may, and so I will highlight the issue. With that being said this isn't a "main vacuum". For a full-sized house and for larger messes I don't imagine this will likely take one terribly far. However, if like me the conassieur is in the market for a small area requiring the occasional vacuuming and cleaning maintenance it should be up to task. Black and Decker seems to be a lucky brand for me personally, and I'm grateful there was no compromise in performance with the lite frame.

Perfect for floors,
I love this for my new floor, so easy to use a little difficult to empty, you need to go outside to empty in your trash can. Otherwise I love love love it.
