Amazingly clean and powerful amp.
I just finished a large system build utilizing 2 of these beautiful power house amps minus front and rear door speaker installs. My stereo build was a ground up, interior gutting 4 day marathon and still didnt finish but will be revisiting and completing in a week at which time i will edit my review but i have enough info on this amp now to write a review. Heres my install: Pioneer Head Unit Audio Control LC7 (2) RF T400-4 (1) 1999 RF bd1000a1 (1) pair RF T1 5.252s (in rear doors) (1) pair RF T1652s (in rear deck of car) (1) pair RF T2 65 Components (front doors) (1) RF T1D212" (in custom sub enclosure) Electrical System: Optima Blue Top-quad post Big 3 0 AWG Upgrade 2 runs of 0 AWG to rear Kenetic Batteries (1) Kenetic HC 1800 Bat for sub amp (1) Kenetic HC 600 Bat for T400-4s I installed all electrical w/ RF products and tuned the entire system with a SMD DD-1 to set LC7 and amp gains to deck max volume before clipping. Once set it was time to play some music thru the 2 RF T652s in the rear deck of car & sub mounted in the trunk. WOW is the reaction i had when hearing how clear and crisp this system sounded for 3 speakers and stays that way the louder it gets. 1 T400-4 will run the rear deck & door speakers. The other T400-4 will be running the T265 Components in the front doors. This system will be loud and crystal clear, i wasnt sure this amps output was going to give my mids & highs enough power but the birthsheets show 73 watts x4 on both amps and it pushes these speaker nicely. Plus upgrading to a 800-4 or 1000-4 was way out of my price range, where this amps price here on amazon is really affordable to most who love RF's Power series. Which is all i preffer to run in my system builds. A must buy for clean sure power on quality builds, easy to install and sure to keep you rockin as Rockford Fosgate has for over 30 yrs. UPDATE: I finished my stereo build and this amp is super clean & powerful on the RF T265 components i have it running. I spent about 12 hours breaking down the front door panels to clean and double dynomat before installing a new set of T265s and it was worth everyminute to do it right. The sound from them ia amazing and this amp is really clean at all volumes. The front channel is running my tweeters in HP, 5000hz @ 75 watts rms. And the rear channel the woofers in HP, 80hz @ 75 watts rms also. After the speakers break in i will fine tune the whole system and dial it in perfect. I have installed Punch series amps before and they are good amps but Power definately takes it to the next level. Way happy my whole system is based on the power series lineup. Keep rockin it RF!

OMG...I'm speechless....
Tiny amp, INSANE amount of POWER... I have built sound systems for many people and have heard many amps. I've tried JL Audio, Kicker, Phoenix Gold, HiFonics (and their other brands, Crunch, MB QUORT, AutoTek) and lesser brands like Power Acustik and Performance Teknique. Some of the amps I've tried are high powered to the point where I questioned their ability to provide clean and loud music while maintaing a low profile and keeping cool. My car is a 98 Cadillac Catera and I had taken off the stock Bose system out of my car and replaced them with Rockford's 6.5 Components all around. The amp that powered all this was an Alpine MPR-300. Don't get me wrong, the Alpine kicks ass for being such a small and powerful amp, but the Rockford Fosgate T400-4 just blew it in every way. First of all, installing it was easier than the Alpine. Everything feels worth the price with it's overall build quality. The terminals are probably one of the best I've used (unlike the JL 500/1 allen wrench style screws that become stripped over time). You need a screw driver and done. Nice and secure! Once I;ve had everything connected, the amp just screamed...I haven't even began to tune it yet to my stereo. It was loud and distortion free. I wasn't satisfied yet how it was tuned and then I began to tune it myself with the SMD DD-1. -OMG... This even scared me how good this amp truly is. Everything sounds even nicer, distortion free, louder. This amp really brings new definition to my ears. What I really like about the amp is the ability to keep it's cool. That's really the best since I like to play my music very loud. Yes...this amp is a little pricy, but it's well worth your money and I highly recommend this amp to anyone interested into getting a good amp to start off with. -Jose Morales YOUTUBE: Albinomexi

Not so hot......
I had high hopes and expectations for this amp.... I payed the crazy stupid amount for next day air (will not make that mistake again). It did come next day, but should not have spent the money for it. Anyway, I installed the amp per directions and it worked good, not great, for a week and a half. had to turn the gains up to about half way to get decent power and sound. in about a week and a half I lost 2 channels, 1 front and 1 rear. After troubleshooting with new RCA cables, speaker wire, and speakers, I narrowed it down to the amp. Back in my hayday Fosgate was a name to be reckoned with. Still may be, I may have gotten a lemon.... But this day and age, there shouldnt be any lemons when you spend 300 bucks for an amp. I dont know. I do know I will go back with pioneer or find a old school crossfire. They never let me down like Fosgate did today......

Saddest day in a long time for me
I have been a VERY happy owner of this Rockford Fosgate amp for almost 2 years now. It has been the cleanest and loudest amp I've ever owned, sounding better than amps that cost more. Never once went into protection mode although it was in my trunk through 100 degree + summer days in Texas and I frequently drive 1 hour distances with the volume cranked. It was driving JBL components in my door and a RF Stage 3 12 inch sub in the trunk. Even playing very low bass notes at high volumes, this amp never hesitated once or overheated. I hooked it up properly when I got it 2 years ago, adjusted the crossovers and gains properly, and haven't had to touch it once since then. The reason its the saddest day in a long time for me is that my car was broken into last night and they stole this amp and my subwoofer. Genuinely made me want to cry for losing the amp. I know worse things can happen in life, but that doesn't make me feel any better about having this beautiful amp stolen from me.

Powerhouse, quality amp - can't go wrong
I was impressed with the specs for this amp, and getting it and inspecting confirmed I had made a good decision. There are cheaper amps, but you get what you pay for. Its heavy, solid and well constructed. Wire attachment points are Heavy Duty and well done. Performance: Turn on is silent. Even at 1/2 gain this thing can drive you out of the car with very hefty reserve - but I'm not trying to be heard in next county or impress people on the next block. If you want that get additional stuff. My system was simple, headunit, 4 way amp, 4 speakers. Works wonderfully. Adjustable and flexible controls. Never got more than slightly warm for my 4 ohm speakers (Polk DB 6.5"). This is a bit overkill for my system and efficient speakers, but the client will be happy, it will rock out and just be loafing along well below rated output. One thing that was unexpected and nice was the "birth certificate" paper that showed actual output test and signed by a tech. It tested more than what it was rated for, and nice to see quality assurance at that level. Does not come with wires, mounting screws, etc. You need to have all that obviously. Screws go into the heat sink and are hidden, but the amp is sort of thick right there and needed like a 1.5" screw to have enough to penetrate the wood I was mounting it to. Very happy, just a bit of noise in the system with engine on but I am sure that's not the amp, either my install or the nature of the old car. I did try to separate the input / power lines by as much as possible.

Awesome
This amp is hands down the best 400 watt amp I have ever heard For starters I have owned several of Rockfords amps over the last 20 years including a power 800.4 which died after 10 years of hard abuse A few years ago with a new suv and limited budget I purchased an MB Quart DCS450 amp for $80 which had same power ratings as this amp and it was ok sounding and not the power I was used to Last week I decided I had had enough of just OK sound and purchased this bad boy I was worried it wasn't enough power but the other amps in the line are double the price and would have required a full rewire of the vehicle The update in sound quality was night to day, and this thing really has some punch to it (pun intended) I am driving 4 mb quart 6x8's and 2 rockford 10's with this and it's plenty loud and clean Another great rockford product !! Just Awesome !!

NOTHING COMPARES
I have this amplifier running Infinity 609cs in the front of my car and Infinity 629I in the rear. This is the best sounding system i have ever heard. Easily beats out the Bose system in my Tahoe. These speakers pound with this amp. I would recommend getting a good cable such as: Monster Standard THX-Certified Speaker Cable, and a good amp kit such as: Kicker 09ZCK8 Z-Series. This amp never gets hot and is fully tunable. Defiantly worth the money!!!

Good product, good sound quality.
I have been using this amp for some time in my Ipad based audio system for my car. The install was very straight forward, just like any other amp. The sound quality was off at first but when I changed the RCA wires to high quality ones the sound quality was great. Highly recommend but make sure that you are educated on pairing these with the right speakers.
