Visconti Harvard Distressed Leather Messenger Bag, Black, One Size

First of all Kudos to Amazon and the seller Kings Leather for the great price and prompt delivery.Now for the bag. It is everything I hoped it would be based on the many Visconti reviews and photos I reviewed in my quest for the right bag for me. I was looking for a bag that would hold my Asus Vivo Tab RT, its docking keyboard, a wireless mouse, charge cable, a bound journal, Kindle reader, Pen, pencil, Flash drives, calculator, and various documents. Yes, it does hold all of it, and yes it is full. This is everything I want with me when I go to various project sites (I'm a Construction Manager).Now for the specifics of the bag not covered by Amazon's description. On the inside there are two large areas separated by a zippered pocket. the rear area has a smaller zippered pocket for small items and it is attached up high to the rear panel creating a small open pocket. The forward area has four card slots and two writing instrument holders on the rear panel, and two open pockets on the front panel (these pockets are not equal in width). Under the front flap there are two pockets, one zippered and one not. the rear of the bag has a single zippered pocket. The Strap is nylon accented with matching leather (the part of the strap that rests on you is completely nylon, the leather is facing out for looks (if any dye were to rub off, most likely it would come from the bag). I did rub the bag with a paper towel and no dye rubbed off.The bag is very well constructed and has a clean, neat, and professional presentation. The bag will not hold File Folders, but I knew that at the time of purchase. The "phone pockets will easily accommodate most devices (I was able to put a Samsung GS3 (with a hard cover on it) in the small pocket, it fit tight. All in all it's a very nice bag.

Like many other reviewers, I was looking for something to hold my iPad mini and or original iPad, phone and keys etc. This really is perfect and I'm completely happy that I chose this bag. My iPad fits inside comfortably both vertically and horizontally and my original iPad fits inside horizontally with no problems.The bag really is as beautiful as it's shown on here and everyone has commented how great it looks too.It's a beautiful crafted bag and the leather seems really good quality. I've had no issues regarding colour runs on my clothes although I haven't really used it for a long period of time yet. It has various zip pockets and a phone holder inside too.

I have looked for a high quality, compact messenger bag for some time. Exploring Coach, Cole Haan, Dooney & Burke, as well as other premium brands. This bag is nicer than any others that I found and for less than half the price ($90). I wanted a bag to travel that would hold my tablet, charger, ear-buds, a few magazines, passport, phone, and other papers (too small for a laptop). This is it! Plenty of zippers and pockets in a streamline form. The finish looks like a distressed newbuck with double stitching and solid hardware. One review said that they thought it was a manufactured composite leather, not true. These are genuine hides. So why 4 stars and not 5? This should be rated a 5+. However, as other reviewers have noted, the dye is not totally sealed. When I received it I rubbed it with a paper towel. Sure enough there was tan coloration on the towel. But I really love it and don't want to return it. So, I sprayed it with two coats of leather waterproofing. When dry, this did not alter the color or finish of the leather. I hope this helps to seal the dye. I will be wearing mostly jeans but would be cautious with fine clothing.

i like the bag, its nice,but it doesn't have a handle..i'm returning it..sorry..

I do not like the leather oil that they put in the bag. After using the bag three times my son noticed that his pants has oil too so he stop using the bag. I would like to return the bag but could not return because it's already used, ..........so its a waste of money on the bag and money to replace the pants ruined by the oil.

We ordered this right before leaving for a month in Spain since the one my husband had was inconvenient to get into. Soon we noticed dark smudges all over the left hip of his dress slacks. Thinking it was from the rental car seat belt, we were about to return the car when my husband realized it was coming from the bag. He attempted to clean it and got lots of mess but never solved the problem. We would certainly have returned it if we had been home.The size is good and the convenience is fine but what a mess!!

Do you feel like Indiana Jones while wearing it? Yes. Will ladies look at you like a sex object and when you glance there way, five o'clock shadow askew, will they shudder? Definitely.The construction is top notch, the leather is tight but flexible, and the color is perfect. The Brown is dark, so I wear it with black or brown and it just fits.Finally, space is an issue for some. Not me, as I put my keys, notebook, work notes, pens, phone, tablet and sunglasses in here without an issue. It will barely fit a Samsung Chromebook, so it probably will NOT fit your laptop or even a Macbook Air. That's the only downside, but one that doesn't affect me much.So in conclusion, get this back and some leather protectors like Bicks 4 and intend on having this bag just as long as a faithful pet.

This bag I gorgeous! The craftsmanship is undeniable, and the fabrication is made to last. Packaging is thoughtful. My wife was overjoyed by this gift!

A high quality product that's perfect size for most academic items, small notebook, wallet, ipad ect. Beautiful colour and real leather smell! Excellent bag for any student or professional.

I received this bag yesterday and am suspicious that this is not "genuine hide leather". There are 2 tags on it and one of them says "Original Leather" which sounds like it might be a manufactured leather or bonded leather. The other tag on a small chain does say "... Real Leather" but it doesn't match the bag at all. I've contacted Visconti in the UK to ask them if it's a manufactured leather or genuine. I checked my Danier crossbody bags and other leather purses I have and they all have a tag on the inside of the bag that says "Genuine Leather". There is no distinict leather smell either. There is clearly something amiss with this bag and if you don't see a 2nd post from me regarding Visconti's response, it's probably not "genuine leather" and I've returned it.UPDATED DEC. 3, 2014: I've heard back from Visconti in the UK and they assure me it's genuine leather. Perhaps it's just a stiffer leather than I'm accustomed to seeing and feeling <shrug>.Having said that, the responsiveness for both the purchase and the replies from Visconti, has been exceptional!

The size is unfortunate for something calling itself a university bag as it's slightly too small to fit A4 papers, and certainly too small for standard sized binders. Most textbooks can squeeze in and it's a good size for tablets or smaller laptops. Internally I measure it to hold a width of 26cm and a height of 20cm, the two main compartments can just about stretch to 4cm thickness each.It's a good quality everyday bag and feels well made. The styling is pleasantly chunky on the zippers and other details, which should keep the bag from threatening anyone's sense of masculinity. It's certainly suitable for a woman too if they're looking for an alternative to a more typical handbag. The leather on the back quickly picked up a dark shiny patina from rubbing while being worn. The front has remained matt but has developed slight variations in colour as well as a few lighter scratches. I very much like these effects and feel they add to the look of the bag, but you'd be disappointed if you expect it to remain looking as it does when new. The attached images are after four months of fairly regular use.

The quality of this bag is so great, nice thick leather and solid. It's darker than the picture and smaller. It just fits my 12" MacBook, almost too snug. It carries that, my phone, charger and maybe a few other small items. For the price I would have liked it to be a bit larger but the quality is wonderful.
