T-H Marine SS-1-DP Steer-Stop Steering Lock for Hydraulic Steering Systems

We are pretty pleased with this gadget. It is very sturdy and fits great. We have over an hour's drive to the lake and are planing a lengthy trip this summer with the boat, and it is nice to know that our expensive outboard is not going to be swinging around on the back of new boat as we travel. We would recommend this for any boat owner who has to transport their rig - just remember to remove it when you launch.

Mine look nothing like the picture. There are 2 pieces attached by a bungee. They are made out of a hard but pliable rubber/plastic. They snap over the cylinder very firmly and should stay put. I had a different one for years that was made of a softer rubber and on long trips they would smash and come off. These should stay put. If they don't work I will update.

I was afraid these wouldn't fit my big 200 hp Yamaha, but they fit perfectly. And they hold the motor straight! It's a shock the first time you forget to remove them and try to turn the tiller/wheel. Don't forget to remove them before getting under way.

Lost my previous clips and needed replacements. These are so much better than what came with my 250 Yamaha. They are very tight and little hard to get off when below freezing but after time I expect this to get better. Look to be real durable and very pleased with the purchase.After using about 4 times these are starting to crack on the ends. Not sure how much longer these last before starting to fall off. They go on and off easy now- just a FYI

If anyone has experience with these two types of stabilizers, please let me know.I'll adjust my rating if needed after I use these stabilizers over my 11-hour round-trip trip this coming Labor Day weekend.Follow-up on 03-SEP-2019: I took my 5.5 hour (each way) trip, and the stabilizer clips pictured above work flawlessly! I would recommend everybody looking for stabilizer clips, to get these (pictured). They're not hard plastic but some sort of harder rubber of sorts. They hold onto the hydraulic steering rods very well and I have zero fears of them falling off or causing any sort of damage.Without a doubt, I will keep my review of 5-stars. I just hope they continue to ship the same clips I attached as a picture.Before I had any stabilizer clips, my motor would creep to the left or right and even an hour-long trip, the motor would be severely tilted in one direction. So to make a 5.5 hour trip and to have the motor stay centered is a huge relief.

Works perfect. Had to trim a little off on 1 to make fit. But no big deal. Recommend getting for sure.

Delivery was very fast. Fits my Merc Optimax 150XS steering perfect. Haven't gotten on the road yet, but where I store my boat is on an angle and the motor would eventually end up turned all the way to the stop. No more. Stays in the middle, so I think this is going to be nice when trailering.

These snap onto the steering arms, but after a bit of driving one always seems to pop off and ends up in the splash well. They are also a bit too short. You'd be better off just makimg your own out of PVC.
