what model Leatherman Multitool is the SMALLEST ?

The Leatherman Squirt series is the smallest tool they carry. It is 2.25" in length when closed.

Lost mine recently to airport security, want to replace, picture here shows no quick-release though to get off keychain fast. Is that accurate?

it is sold exactly as pictured. I know the model you refer to, but this one does not have that feature built in. It is nice because it fits in a pocket better though!

would the scissors part of the tool cut through a zip tie?

I'm surprised to hear this can cut zip ties because when I tried cutting a zip tie with mine, bought around December 2015 from Amazon, it didn't work. It actually put a small nick on my scissor's edge even though I didn't use much force--I eased off on it when I noticed it wasn't cutting in. Maybe mine is defective with bad heat treating. It worked great with paper but not as well now even with paper after this.
