On my old truck I had a soft trifold cover, and it was fine. It did the job. However, the new truck I wanted something a bit more secure. I am very happy with the fit and finish of this unit and the install went easily enough for one person. There are a TON of youtube videos on how to install it and I found a couple of those very helpful. Really happy with it and would definitely recommend. Like others have said, it is short on features but when it is significantly cheaper than comparative models in this style, I think it is worth the money. I installed on a 2017 Ram 2500 and my tailgate locks with the doors and honestly, I'd rather have that than than having a separate key for it.
