Our first attempt at using it out of the box was a disaster and over half the food was ruined because it stuck so bad. We have to treat it like raw cast iron and oil it after each use and then use oil or cooking spray when we use it to keep food from sticking. I tried to call the Lava company to find out if there was something special that needed to be done, but once they found out it was an Amazon order, they refused to speak to me and said to call Amazon. I don't expect Amazon to be able to tell me if there is anything special with their product.
