Thats one reason they should not be removed from the razor or wiped down. They are coated with platinum, chromium, and PTFE (Teflon) **Q: Are these the same as the packaging with word Treet in white lettering and the the word platinum in blue letterting with blue line between the words?** A: From what I heard theses are better. **Q: How sharp are these on a 1-5 scale. say feather is a 5, kai 4, red personna 3, and derby 1.** A: I am unfamiliar with Kai or red personna, sorry. Feathers are the most aggressive blade I've used in my ebo jager. I do not like an aggressive shave. My technique results in too much bloodletting. Derbys were much less so. They also held their original edge longer, since they weren't as sharp to begin with. But the shave wasnt as close. Treets are in the middle. Give them a 3. Sharp, but no nicks at all. But you need 3 passes to get close. I get about 4 shaves before they can't get the BBS shave I crave. I could get 5 shaves if im not picky. I have a tough beard. So Treet is superior to Derby for me. But if you like Feather, and want an agressive shave, you will not like Treet. **Q: What are the best straight razors** A: The blades you are looking at are for Safety Razors which is the grandfather to the cartridge razors.
