As the pandemic had already hit, I wasn't sure how long I'd have to wait for stock so I went with this Xerox. I suspect this printer was in stock due to some of the reviews. As I had worked with plenty of Xerox printers in the past, I went for it. It was appropriately priced, had an appropriate duty cycle for my needs. For the amount and type of printing needed, it would keep costs down. (I usually look at the price of a printer and its ink/maintenance costs at 3 years and at 5 years to determine its real cost.) So, ignoring those negative reviews, it was the perfect choice for my use case.Xerox printers are not the friendliest to set up. I've been working with Xerox printers forever so I didn't have any difficulty. But I can understand how someone else could have difficultly getting this one up and running if the software gives them any issues or doesn't run on their OS.I usually configure printers on the network before even thinking about getting drivers installed. As this printer does not have a screen, I had to plug it into a windows laptop via USB to do the initial set up. (I don't and will never run WPS on my wireless network.) Once it was correctly configured on wireless, I hit the built-in Xerox web server to review/tweak settings. I did have to turn off a cover page as many others mentioned. After that I installed the printer on both PCs and Macs without issue.While I did the initial configuration of the printer on Windows, I did just check the Xerox web site for updates. There is a wifi configuration tool that is supposed to run on both Catalina and Big Sur (at the time of writing, the latest macos version.) You can download it directly from the xerox website. I believe this may be a new software tool that was released after some/all of the negative reviews by mac users. You may want to check the dates on the reviews to be sure. I haven't used the mac wifi utility, but I can say an already configured printer works great on a mac. I haven't had any issues. In fact, over 90% of the printing is done from two macbook pros, one on Big Sur, one on Catalina. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY IF THIS IS FOR A MAC. You might as well order a brick. Same thing. *by D***N on Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2020* Repeat Headline - Do not buy if this is for a Mac. Well, at least OS Catalina. If you don't read anything else from this review, look for another printer. It is not worth your time or grief. You have better things to do. Like, have ice cream. Or spend your Saturday relaxing. Not dealing with this nonsense.I've worked in IT before and I have to say, this has to be the worst printer experience I've had in over a decade. And my mistake- I should have read the reviews before I ordered it. But, the Xerox B210 is essentially the same as the Samsung it was replacing. What could go wrong. Oh, apparently, a lot.First. The drivers you download from their website are not signed. Meaning Xerox did not send the install to Apple for authorization. For us, as the user of the printer, It's not your typical install. You have to go into your System Preference and open your Security & Privacy settings and ok each step of the install. Not very user friendly. A driver install should be quick and easy.But even then, second, the driver you downloaded and installed are not enough to run and manage the printer. Because there is absolutely no way to access the printer utility settings via USB. Oh, did I mention that you cannot set up the printer via WiFi? Nope.When you first start up the printer, it spits out a Configuration printout. And what you'll notice is that even though displays 2 IP address' (WiFi & Ethernet), WiFi is listed as Disabled. Apparently you need to use either of the Xerox® CentreWare® Internet Services, or from the Xerox Easy Printer Manager. Which is no where to be found on their website. Unless you are installing on Windows. And then you'll read somewhere that -"Thank you for using the Support Forum. Please take a look at the User Guide for network setup beginning on page 43. If this does not help please consider contacting your support centre for further assistance."Yeah, that little nugget is actually pretty useless. Because it's not a real solution. We still don't have the right software.My initial thinking? It's on the disc that came in the box. Who still uses and optical drive? Do I have one on the MacBook Air? Or the Mac mini? Nope. I can't really remember the last time I had to use an optical drive. Don't we always just download the driver from the web site anyway. It's the most up to date, right? Why waste time installing one from a disc that's probably a year old anyway. Then take the time to "update" it? But, I did look on the web site. All of the utility downloads are for Windows only.So, there you go. That's as far as you can get.Open the box.Put the printer on the table.Plug it in.Power it up.Realize that you ordered a brick.Take it off the table, box it up, slap on some tape to seal it shut, submit the return request to Amazon.I guess Xerox thinks it's still the 90's. Mac's are an afterthought to them. That's too bad. I liked using them when I had to manage a bunch of Xerox multi-functions at an old job. Now, they've cast me aside.
