We have been on 4 hikes locally here in San Diego with the pack. For starters, when I opened it the belly strap was way to long even at its shortest length. It hangs off him several inches and is in no way secure. To be fair, my dog does have more of a boxer body which means he has a very deep chest and a very skinny belly area. So the chest strap works properly, however because the belly strap is so loose the bag tends to lean to one side or the other with any load in the pack. This in and of itself is not why I'm giving it two stars since the strap can be shortened if you have any sewing skills, which my wife does. The main reason it gets two stars is the zippers are very loose meaning they open very easy spilling the contents out on the trail. My wife had an unfortunate incident the other day as she was walking our dog around our local lake trail. The zipper came open and her car keys that were in the pack fell out. Again, because the belly strap is not secure the pack tends to shift to one side or the other so that probably caused part of the zipper problem. Anyway she lost her keys on the trail and could not find them at the time. Luckily, we retraced her footsteps and found her keys under a bush later that day. In closing, I will be shopping for a different bag as this one will not suit my needs as far as quality and versatility needed for any moderate to heavy hiking or backpacking trips.Update: February 10, 2016We have now had the pack for around 2-3 weeks. Today while hiking, the strap the goes around my dog's neck broke where it is sewn into the pack. Definitely going to try a different one. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ He didn't like it at first *by M***. on Reviewed in the United States on December 26, 2015* I purchased this for my 8 month old black lab. He didn't like it at first, but after one use he now doesn't seem to mind it. I love all of the pockets and space, and to have some help carrying items when we go for hikes! The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars was because the back strap was way too large, even on the smallest setting. It almost touched the floor on my 60 lb dog. I am thinking I may have gotten a defective product, but I just cut the strap and sewed the clasp back on to make it smaller and now it works fine. I never tried contacting the company as I am good with a needle and thread, but this maybe is something to consider before making this purchase. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Backpack *by J***. on Reviewed in the United States on August 15, 2015* My Lab has put on a lot of weight which is why I bought this backpack for her to carry water and bags on longer walks. I thought I might have problems with her wearing it but she didn’t struggle and was easygoing about having it on. The backpack is well made with large zippered pocket and a smaller pocket with a velcro strap on each side and the chest straps are long enough but the neck strap is tight because of her being overweight. Although, this isn’t problem since I can add an extension to lengthen the neck strap until she loses more weight. Just a tip, make sure to also measure your dog’s neck before ordering.
