Grohe 19988EN1 Essence New 2-Handle Dual Function Thermostatic Trim With Control Module, Brushed Nickel

I am a DIY'er. I have done many improvements to my home, including full kitchen renovations. This winter, I was sick of getting scalded, so I decided to upgrade my old, and non code compliant two handle shower to this valve! The shower valve itself is gorgeous and beautifully made. However, within 3 weeks of operation the plastic safety stop for the temp limiter has broken. If this was the only flaw with this valve I would be fine. However, even after calibration, the thermostat function simply doesn't work. I even paid for a master plumber to come in to my house and redo my work. It does looks beautiful, however.

Just bought this value. 2 key things they don’t tell you. 1. You need to buy a separate “rough in valve” for this to work. So the true cost is $120 higher. 2. The comparable rough in valve has been discontinued. We were eventually able to find one online, but don’t assume maintenance parts will be available in the future I would avoid this model.
