The maker includes directions on the side of the box (dont throw it out on accident) that suggets a heat setting based on the season, and your flavor preferences. Our room temp varies between 60-80°F on any given day, and this belt (on the high setting) fermented my kombucha to the perfect F1 flavor in 7 days. Its a really nice accessory to kombucha making that keeps my F1 consistent and tasty! FYI- the cord is not super long. Its not short, just not super long. Just something to consider if the closeness of your outlet to your jars is a factor for you. Check the product description if needed.

I brew kombucha and needed a heating wrap since our house gets chilly overnight during the winter months. This is truly a ‘set it and forget it’ solution! To enjoy the success I have with my kombucha simply read the directions that are on box the wrap comes in and you’ll be on your way to easy maintenance and delicious brews. There are 3 settings: High, Medium, Low. The info on the box outlines how to determine which setting to use, and when. When the wrap is used with a 1 gallon round glass jug it leaves a space to view a temperature strip if you use them, which I do. Many products of this type wrap completely around the vessel which makes it more difficult to check the temperature when necessary. The dimensions of it provide even heating for the vessel size I mentioned above. This is a big consideration when fermenting since you don’t want all the heat in one spot. It’s definitely a well thought out design and is a great value for the money since it will help make F1 a success each and every time!

**Q: I bought one of these, and it's been on high for the last 8 hours and feels barely warm. How long until fully heated?**
A: In the winter my house is cold, I keep my heating pad on the medium setting and my heat strip on the kombucha jar says 78 degrees. You can't go by how hot the pad feels, your jar will feel warm if the pad is working .

**Q: can this be used with a 2.5 gallon jar for continuous brew?**
A: It won't work as well with 2.5 gallons. It's designed to be used on a 1-gallon jar. That being said, you will be able to raise the temperature with the wrap on high - it just depends on what temperature you are going for and how cold you keep your house. Also, keep in mind you will have to find a way to secure it as the strap is designed to fit around a 1-gallon vessel. Thanks for the question!!

**Q: Does this come with a temperature gauge?**
A: You bet it does. The temperature gauge is an LCD gauge that will stick to the side of your vessel. Thanks for the question!

**Q: Is this ul or etl certified? i don't like leaving electronics on for long periods of time if there are no safety standards in place.**
A: I don't know, but I do know that it's perfectly safe to use constantly and for consecutive batches since that is what I did these past cooler/cold seasons and shall do again these upcoming ones.

I live in the snowy mountains and keep the temperature in my house around 68 degrees in the winter. This mat has worked well to keep a one-gallon jar of kombucha consistently between 75 and 79 degrees. I bought another one for my daughter.
