General rule of thumb, make sure the car's ignition was recently on (within the last 10 - 15 minutes) before plugging in. Then plug in the maintainer and chose the proper mode using the "Mode" button. After that, close the doors and lock the car. If the maintainer is not charging at this point it could be a few things. If the battery is so low that you are getting a battery light or error, the battery needs to be charged. This can be achieved by jumping the car and running it or using the Porsche clamp accessory with this maintainer (95804490075). Once the battery is charged to normal levels, cigarette lighter operations can continue. Another problem we frequently see is a blown fuse. Any Porsche dealer should be able to test your cigarette lighter to see if the fuse has blown.
