Easy install. Synced automatically. Let me preface by saying I already installed Asante smoke detectors and so the wifi extender and apps were already working (on android phone). Took about 10-15 min . Almost anyone should be able to do this (unless you don't have a electric garage door opener). Instructions were good, supplies including wiring were included (that in itself is amazing) and mounting it on the wall was the hardest part. The app found the camera without me doing anything and asked if I wanted to add it to my other smoke detectors. I really like the Asante smoke detectors that have been installed and working well for about a year (emails and texts me even if there is a power failure). Well worth the investment. I will try to follow up with more feedback once I have a few months of use. No more garage door remotes to carry around!!P.S. If you don't have have the Asante system already in your home you will have to set it up and download the app. I did need to drill holes in my wall and by clips to hold the wires to the wall.

The unit is down more than it's up. The base unit is constantly losing the internet connection and needs to be rebooted. The only problem is, I'm usually never home to do that. 70% of the time I need to access my garage doors, the unit fails. Now they want me to send it back to them to check it out and repair or replace for a $125 fee. This does not make up for all the time the systems been down and the time it took me to email tech support and wait for a reply. For a few more bucks, I buy a new system and replace this garbage that never worked well to begin with.

I am one of those homeowners who checks my doors several times before I leave the house or before I go to bed. One night after checking the garage door twice, I was ready for bed and checked one more time. To my horror, the door was open! I have trouble sleeping as it is, now seeing that this happened, I didn't know how I was going to sleep ever again. I immediately researched garage door sensors and came upon this one by Asante. It was easy to install. I have a Chamberlain motor so I needed an adaptor sensor to attach to the camera. It was overnighted to me. Customer Service at Asante answered my emails immediately - any time of the day or night! Where do you get service like that these days? This product is amazing. You must get the door sensor as well so that you can notified should your door be left open or go up on it's own. Then you can close the door right from the app!!

This works great and it's easy to install. You don't need to be a computer genius to install this and hook it up to your network. You should also by the garage sensor that goes along with this works very well. The night vision on the camera switch works well. The only issues I've had is that the light switch on the app is very close to the open and close garage door button. If you're not careful you might accidentally open or close the door when you switch the night vision on and off. I would give this five stars if it was z wave compatible. Or other devices are Z wave devices and I have to going to a separate app to open this one up.Providing an update....now that I have had it for several months and have decided to replace with another brand. Issues:1) The app is very slow and takes a long time to actually get to the garage camera with several buttons to press. We have other smart home apps and they are much faster than this one.2) The unit will not stay connected with my internet wifi for longer than a week. We have to unplug and plug back in to get it to reconnect. Rather inconvenient when out of town. Again, we do not have this issue with other smart home devices on our network3) Really not compatible with other smart home hubs. We are trying to consolidate and it is rather inconvenient to have multiple apps and sign ins for every device.4) a lot of wires show. First you have the wire from the camera to the button you press to open and close the door and second a wire hanging down from the camera to the plug. Not a clean look.

The pictures quality is better than I expected. It was easy mount and the app for the phone is easy to use. Our challenge with it was the instructions for the initial set up were lacking in detail and it wasn't easy to connect at first. It took a lot of trial and error to get it to connect. A year later we still like it and are glad we have it BUT it seems to have a lot of automatic updates (at a minimum every other month it seems) and every time it updates it kicks the camera offline. We have to manually go back and put it back online. All well and good if you're home to put it back online but it's completely useless if it's offline and you're trying to use it to confirm you closed your door when your away from home. Currently looking for a better replacement product that is more reliable and doesn't stop working every time there is a system update.
