How does this product wash out? I've had other Petroleum-based pomades that were very stubborn.

Since this product is water based and not petroleum based it washes out with just water. you don't even have to use shampoo.

How does it fare against sweat?

It works better with short to medium hair. However I have been growing my hair longer and I find that it does get tougher depending how much you're sweating. Its also tougher to hold when the weather is hot and humid. However it's usually easier to restyle without adding product on shorter hair. For longer hair I would have to add a little more product. It would also depend on what type your hair is also. I have flat and fine hair so it's always harder for me. If you don't have what I have then it should be way easier I assume?

Is star wax pomade only for men? does it smell like a man? i'm a girl... if soooo, il pass.

Yea I am a female who keeps a fade and I only used it a couple times because the man smell is so potent. I now use Johnny B Dope because the man smell is almost non existent and it holds like a boss. Hope this helps!

Does it feel like gel on your hair (i.e. hard) or more like soft shinny hold?

For me it depends on how damp my hair is. If it's almost dry when I put it on it hardens, otherwise it is soft but looses its hold
