I eventually tossed it because it made no difference than a cookie sheet. When I got back into bread baking, I did some research and a nice thick stone seemed to be the general method of success. I preheat the oven with this stone for about an hour so it heats all the way through, slide my loaf (on top of parchment) onto the stone, and the rise and bottom crust are amazing.
