Still one of the best LG cases money can buy!
At this point I feel its safe to say that this is one of the BEST cases available for the LG phones. I have had a defender on my iPhone 4S which wasn't so good (still allowed the screen to crack) on the top corner, but on the LG G3 the Defender case was good. My only gripe with the LG G3 version of the Defender was that the built-in screen protector did not seem to fit properly to create a nice seal over the screen. Air bubbles, and other contaminants would somehow make their way between the glass and the special plastic protector which bothered me a bit. With the LG G4 Defender case this problem has been fixed, almost to the point where the phone fits TOO tight in the inner layer of the case. I was concerned about the fact that the G4 has a slight curve on the surface of the touch screen and I figured that this screen protector would certainly be worse than the last case I owned, DEFINITELY NOT THE CASE. I love the G4 variant! But be aware: If your phone features the leather finish or something other than the standard finish available for the G4, you will probably not be able to use this case AT ALL. A normal G4 fits so snug its tough to snap the inner layer together! Now that you have been warned, I must continue to compliment the work that OtterBox has done to produce a screen protector that not only provides a great untarnished view of the screen and great tactile feedback, but also an extremely durable material that withstands the bad and the ugly! My G3 was a great test bed for this protector before, and the damage report to the actual protector after a little over 12 months of use on the road was only a few VERY SMALL specs and tiny lines towards the top of the screen where my keys must have rubbed hard. The lines are so small you really have to pay attention in order to see them in the right light. Damage to the actual phone after falls, keys and sharp objects coming in contact, moisture and rain, etc, was never found. This case took a beating for the phone as it was designed to do. The ONLY signs of wear and tear showed at the USB plug flap which started losing rigidity and appeared to start to peel slightly after maybe 8 months of use. On my G4 the external rubber layer appears to be much more rigid, and slightly less sticky/rubbery. I am not sure if this is going to help the flaps from wearing in the future, but I certainly hope it doesn't make the previous issue worse. The feel and design of the rubber layer still remains great in the hands, insuring a nice grip over the phone in just about any situation. I like external rubberized cases because they can be propped up against other items or simply laid on a surface and I know the device will stay in place much better than say, a phone with a hard plastic external case. I can sit the Otterbox on my car's dashboard and the phone is not as likely to slide around. If I prop it sideways against another object to facilitate watching a movie, for example, the phone is more likely to remain in place too. I will not be using the belt-clip holster, but should I decide to use it, the device appears strong and up to the task of keeping the G4 in place even through running and other unlikely exercises. This holster is THICK and big (unavoidable with such a huge phone)... But what I loved about it was the attention to detail and close design tolerances around the clips which engage the phone at the sides. The corner tabs on the holster provide support and keep the phone from sliding around in the holster, but the real heroes are the lateral clips which engage the phone in ANY ORIENTATION! Design nerds will appreciate this feature. The phone can be placed in the holster with the screen facing either way, and the clips should engage and lock it in place snugly. The only thing which could have made the holster an additional asset for people like myself who will not use the holsters at the hip, would have been to design the case with a replaceable clip and a separate piece that would snap in its place and allow the holster to be mounted on say, a bicycle handlebar. Even a simple "kick stand" feature would have been cool, so that I can set the phone down in the holster and sit on my desk to watch videos, or as a bed-side night clock, etc. With additional ingenuity which is certainly not lacking at the Otterbox headquarters, the Defender holster could become even more useful... The case itself is already top notch and remains my favorite, specially now that it fits so nice and tight against the phone's screen! The next step for the case would be to feature some kind of waterproof capability, but that would probably be a completely different case series that would be more expensive. PRICE: Dropping $50+ on a case nowadays, when so many decent (and nicer-looking) options are available, is a bit of a LUXURY, but after fiddling around with other (less bulky) cases which did not meet my protection, materials, or design standards justified the higher price tag for an Otterbox product that I am SURE will fit well and do its job over 2 or more years that I will be keeping this phone. After using 3 of their cases Otterbox to me is proven and that gives me peace of mind in this new investment. You could also consider the cost of a premium screen protector, along with Otterbox's less bulky Commuter case (priced closer to the rest of average G4 cases): You will end up paying the same or MORE, and the fit/protection will not be as good as the Defender case. You will also need to fiddle around mounting the screen protector which is usually very tedious. To conclude, The Defender case provides the best of both worlds in terms of hybrid hard/soft case protection that truly takes a beating and protects your $600 LG investment. My G3 looked brand new after a year + of being used in its Defender Otterbox, I hope my G4 will also enjoy that luxury.

Awesome case!!
Edit: So, ive had this case on my phone for about two months now. Like I stated previously, I am pretty talented of dropping things. Today the plastic part of the case cracked clean in two around the top edge of the screen. For some reason my phone keeps falling face first, lol. I guess my case got tired of me dropping it I love otterbox items!! Had it for my iPhone, now its protecting my LG g4. At first, I had the cute little Quick Circle flip cover. While flashy, and cool to play with, it didn't do much to protect my phone like this otterbox one. Especially since I'm the queen of dropping my phone. I shattered my (what I thought was shatter-proof) glass screen protector. Either that vendor lied, or I'm that talented at breaking stuff. I'm leaning toward the latter. Anyway, its a two part case. The hard plastic and the rubber outer part. I'm not sure if it was me being slow, but it didn't seem to fit when I had the battery cover on, so, I left it off. After that, it snapped right together!! Less steps for me to go through when swapping the battery out! (Hey, did you get your free battery and cradle charged and leather back from LG yet? Lol) I got the purple one. Its not as vibrant as it is in the picture. The plastic is a lavender color, while the outter rubber part is sort of bluish purple? Its not ugly, but I wanted something brighter for when I lose my phone in the house somewhere. I'm also the queen of losing my phone lol.

Great case - It kind of works with the leather version of the G4
I have owned many Otterbox smartphone cases, despite that they make smartphones look bulky, it is the best protective phone case I have seen so far. So why changing brand? I purchased a black leather G4 for my wife. I know some people think that hiding such beautiful material behind a case is crazy but for 400 bucks, I think it’s worth it. And besides, I don’t live in the states (I am from Haiti) so it would take sometimes to replace the screen or other damaged part of that luxury phone. And my wife always drops phones (she broke the screen of her last one 2 weeks after already changing it, couldn’t find an Otterbox case for the LG E975 that she had). Two days before getting the case delivered, I read some reviews that it is not compatible with the leather version of the phone. I was stunned and started to worry because I wouldn’t have time to order a metal back of the phone. After visiting most of the forums on the internet about it, some say it works, some not. Finally I got to experience it by myself. The packaging of the case was great as always, the case was very light but seems thinner than the Galaxy S5 one that I have right now (probably to keep it as light and small as possible) but for me it sounds more like a downgrade in toughness. When I installed the phone in the case, it was a little snug and one the clamps on the hard shell didn’t want to clip. What I did is to remove the built in screen protector (which is really thick) and place the phone. And it worked! And it didn’t seem to snug anymore. As I am not a big fan of the built in screen protector on the Otterbox cases, I had bought a 5 pack Mr Shield screen protector with the case for when the built in one would scratch (which I admit doesn’t scratch easily), so I had installed it before putting it in the case. So that’s all that I had to say about the case. My wife loves it as it makes it feel really strong (hope that she will not give it a drop test soon lol) I didn’t give it 5 stars for 3 reasons: - First because of the built in screen protector which I think Otterbox should work on, it is too thick and after sometime of use, it will dilate and will not really touch the screen - Second because the hard shell and the synthetic rubber exterior slipcover are thinner than those I have experienced in the past, which for me is a lost in toughness - And at last, Otterbox should warn customer on the front page of the case that it will not be compatible with the leather version of the phone Hope that my review were helpfull

This is the best case for a tough outdoor life. Superb all round protection without too much bulk. Can be used with or without the belt holster for a dual purpose protector. Other comment on jack plug being in wrong place is incorrect, this hole is for the microphone next to the headphone socket. Both rubber plugs on the bottom edge are perfectly placed and offer great protection with easy access. The entire cover has a nice soft rubber feel with a cleverly textured surface which gives great all over grip no matter how you're holding it. The built in screen protector works perfectly without any issues and the raised lip gives excellent added protection when its placed or dropped face down. If you need a seriously heavy duty cover with a high quality finish, this is it.
