I purchased this to verify that the thermostat on my oven was measured a higher temp than reality. I was drawn to this confirmation because of some bakes that were taking longer and a wired probe thermometer with an oven temp measurement showing a lower value than the oven display. The KitchenAid thermometer hangs neatly from a shelf and is visible through the glass window. It is small enough to be out of the way, The temperature markings are visible enough to read. Temperature wise, the thermometer confirmed that at all convection temps between 300-450F my oven was actually reading about 20 degrees warmer than it actually is -- so I have to increase the preheat and bake temperatures 20 degrees F to compensate for this discrepancy. Things are baking much better now. Trying to figure out if that same oven thermometer can be recalibrated to the Kitchen Aid temperature. Easy and low cost way to confirm oven temp.

My current rental has an oven that appears to have been built sometime between 1960 and today. It has no timer, no digital display whatsoever no preheat notification, nothing. Just a few knobs and that’s it. Trying to cook for the first month or two was difficult as I never knew whether the oven was at the temperature I needed to be considering the inaccuracy of the oven dial. This is a very simple solution to that problem. As far as I can tell, this is an accurate internal gauge that improves the functionality of my oven. It’s small enough not to be an issue while having a very simple design that makes it incredibly easy to use. Just clamp it on to one of your oven racks and let it do its thing. It’s been many months and I’ve never even had to clean the thing as it stays enough out of the way to avoid any food splatter.

I have started to bake my own bread, and one thing I read over and over again is that the oven temperature needs to be spot on. I am a big Kitchen Aid product fan, and they make a lot of good products. This Oven Thermometer is just another one to add to the list of great products for its value. It's light and is easy to adjust. It hangs from the rack and is out of the way of baking. Overall, great product and would buy again.

Unfortuantely, I received a defective product and Amazon will not allow me to make a return. In just two months, the dial and inside of the glass have turned dark grey and are now unreadable, rendering the thermometer unusable. The oven was never over 425, there is no reason for it to have become usuable so quickly. I'm disappointed to have wasted money on this.

I bought this a year ago because I wanted a temperature gauge I could read through the window of my grill. It was the only one with a clip I could attach to the inside of the lid of my grill. Worked great, until the glass started to get cloudy. I cleaned the glass, but most of the cloudiness was on the inside, which I couldn't get to without breaking the device. Eventually, the glass turned completely black, making it unusable. I tried to research it on the KitchenAid website, but it didn't even recognize the model number. So, I guess this thing only lasts about 10 or 12 grilling sessions.
