This lock is secure, has a number of nice operating features, and most importantly is reliable
Excellent high quality lock system. I recognize there are many lock systems for sale with more electronic features, but here is the issue, most of the fancy feature locks that sell for less $250 to $300. are just not reliable, especially long term. This is a product area where you get what you pay for. So the solution: Either pay $300 or alternately buy a great lock that has fewer features, but instead is very reliable, built extremely well, uses "unlock" technology that simply unlocks the door but does not try to mechanically pull the latch bolt; this feature alone will substantially extend battery life and reduce mechanical complexity and door alignment issues. All this translates to a low cost, highly reliable, mechanically simple lock "that works" every time, all the time. On top of all the simplicity, the Kwikset re-key technology allows the user to re-key the lock to match current keys, so key changes are not necessary unless the user so desires. If there is a downside to this lock, it is that the installation documentation is lacking in explanations in a few areas, which can lead to a bit of confusion, if the user does not properly check out the assembly process ahead of time. In my case, I identified and tested components assembly a head of time, which did help to resolve ambiguities in the assembly instructions. In fact, I also fully programmed the lock system and re-keyed the system before installing it on the door, which made the installation process a straightforward 7 or 8 minutes maximum, without anyone else holding the lock during installation. I would recommend either a second set of hands to assist holding the outside lock segment, or devising a way to hold the lock segment in place during installation. I just placed a protective heavy paper over the outside lock segment to protect it, then used a strip of gaffers tape to hold the outside segment to the door while I installed the inside segment and screwed it all together. As I said, the entire process took about 7 or 8 minutes and the lock was installed and performing as expected. The lock is secure, has a number of nice operating features, costs less than $80.00, and most importantly is reliable. I would highly recommend this lock system.

Awesome
Works awesome, especially if someone forgot their key. And I was able to rekey it to my old key so I did not have to get more made.

Good features, cheaper here than at hardware stores
Nice features, easy to assemble. DOES NOT have manual locking function. That's my fault though, I saw the knob at the back and thought it was a manual locking mechanism, it's not. It's the toggle between auto-lock and passage mode. Auto lock is nice though, especially when I always forget if I closed the garage door or not. I installed this in the garage entry door. I like the kwikset smart lock with re-key system because all my doors can have just one key as back up. Even if they all have different codes. Straight forward installation just like with any kwikset smart lock. I like that there's a security screw that prevents tampering with the program button, especially with entitled family members who think they need to have their own code to your house!

Nice lockset
Very nice locket, and easy to install....BUT....one of the set screws is missing, so one lever can't be locked in place. Kwikset customer service is always a few hours wait to speak with someone and the system puts you in a call back queue and never calls back. Very frustrating because I would like to get another one for another door, but I won't do that until I can use the one I have without gingerly holding the lever to keep it from falling on my feet.

Quality and easy to use
Quality you expect from a name brand. Relatively easy to install. Very easy to use on daily basis. Other manufacturers are confusing to open. This requires you to just punch in 4 digit code and unlocks. Plus on the inside panel there is a lever that allows it to be locked each time door is closed or move the lever and can get in and out without code. Nice feature is audible sound when locked and unlocked. Plus a constant beep if try to lock and bolt is not properly aligned. Worth the money.

Easy to install.
Wife is tired of using keys. If you ever installed a lock before this will be so simple, it was easier than some of the other locks I have previously dealt with. The lock is loaded with operational features and a money saver is the re-key feature, I didnโt have to have new keys made I just set the lock to accept my old keys.

A great key pad!
We installed this today to replace our old Kwik-Set 911 keypad that gave us 10 full years of trouble-free service (before it died). Per Kwik-Set, this new 917 model is the replacement for the 911, which is by now of course discontinued. This new one is GREAT! We love it. We were able to get the same color, so it matches our (old) deadbolt exactly, and it fits perfectly (inside and outside) where the 911 had been. It is lovely, and has a few new features which are definite improvements. The battery pack used to be quite cumbersome to get to - but no more. They have revamped that part, plus it uses one 9V instead of 4 AAs. The handle inside doesn't have a "lock" and some reviewers mentioned that. It's a non issue, IMO. There is a small lever above the handle and when it's horizontal, the door is unlocked. When it's vertical, the door is locked. Same idea as the old 911 model, only there it was a button on the handle. The unit appears to be very well made and was easy to install. We are very happy with it. Thank you, Kwik-Set and Amazon.

No "normal" locking mode
Bought this for a garage/shed door. The locking options are either AUTO LOCK or UNLOCKED at all times (passage mode). It's clearly stated in the item description so I don't want to give a bad review, it's my bad for assuming that once you unlock with a code or key, it stays unlocked until you press a lock button like the one I have on my front door. It does not. Normal usage would go as follows: Unlock and open the door (auto-locks itself back up immediately). Flip the switch on the inside of the door to "passage mode". close the door. and go about your ins and outs. When you want to lock again, you have to open the door; there's no Lock button on the exterior keypad, flip the switch back to auto lock and then close the door. Not a big deal, but it'll take some getting used to and to me, it's just an extra step that could have been avoided. I still like the product, the quality and all the other features.

Great compact lock
Quick and easy to install. I searched all over for a lock that would fit in my small space to fit on the door. This is the most compact in length and works very well. Comes with a key but never have to remember keys at the door again with the codes.
