Great value and good charger
Works great, easy to use and use it mainly to bring my car battery back to full strength as I don't use it that often. I like the mounting bracket. Mounted it on my wall, but I did add a spacer underneath it because the charger gets pretty warm/somewhat hot, thus allowing air flow all around it. The small size & weight is great. The alligator clips are very good and adhere to the battery very well. Its obviously slower that my large 10 amp charger as should be expected, so if your looking for faster recoveries and less need for a trickle charger, get the 10 amp version. I am leaning into getting one to replace my old 10 amp charger.

Good product
Perfect for what I needed. Very easy to use and works well. It does take some time depending on your battery but worth the price.

Great value and good charging
Great compromise between price and usability. A full charge on a depleted battery may take 24 hrs or so but the lower rating allows me to use it with a 100 ft heavy gauge extension chord without worries. I would not want a smaller unit and a larger draw unit would make me worry about using an extension chord. Great and reliable unit.

Works better than expected
Hooked it up and it went to work and within n a couple of hours my car battery was fully charged and on green and holding! Super glad I bought this model! It’s small and easy to use

Reliable and Efficient Battery Charger but no Instruction Guide Included
The NOCO GENIUS5 does exactly what it’s supposed to do. It charges my older vehicle’s battery quickly and efficiently. I noticed it works faster and more reliably than the cheaper charger I own. It’s is more compact, well-built, and feels like a quality product that’s designed to last. However, I do wish it came with an instruction guide explaining its functions and indicators. As someone who isn’t particularly knowledgeable about cars, having clear instructions would have made things easier. My cheaper charger actually came with a very helpful guide, so I was a bit surprised that this one didn’t. I ended up having to look online to make sure I was using it correctly and safely. Another thing I notice is that the button is not as intuitive. There's a delay when pressing the button. That said, once I understood how it worked and managed my patience, it performed flawlessly. I just wish the user guidance matched the quality of the device itself.

REPAIR MODE // Compared to an older Noco Genius G3500; using for Solar/PV battery bank
Update (2/15/23): Used this 5A Noco on my car battery the other day. The battery is 4 years old, and the car gets drive at most, once a week, so not ideal for battery health. Once a year (annually), I try to charge the battery. When I hooked it up, and ran it in normal charging mode, it quickly finished (within five minutes). I switched over to repair mode, which applies a small pulsing current, and ran it for two cycles (repair mode shuts off after 4 hours), so 8 hours total. Using a battery tester (measures battery resistance), the overall health improved after 8 hours. So the repair mode definitely does something different than the regular charging mode. Summary: I have had a NOCO Genius G3500 charger since 2017, and it's a great charger. Recently started building a solar/PV battery bank from old marine (Optima) bluetop deep cycle batteries. So the G3500 was getting a good workout, especially the repair function. So I will be comparing this next generation GEN5X1 in that role. I had ordered the GEN5X1 back in April 2021, and this past Black Friday, the GENIUS5 (5A) was on sale, so I decided to add that one. Also use the Kyzee Load Tester frequently while charging, so listing this that as well as a related product. Testing: On an old really dead Yuasa motorcycle battery. Impressively, it was at 3-4 volts, and the Noco started right up in regular (not repair) mode. Going to let this run a couple of days, and see where it ends up (not expecting it to revive this one). Recommendations: 1) In general, the slower you charge the battery the better it is for the overall longevity and lifespan of the battery. The trade off being that you might have to charge a really dead battery for a couple of days. For batteries less than 100AH (the Optima I was testing on is 55AH), a 5-AMP charger is a good middle ground. 2) Having a good battery tester is also a must, I can recommend either of the two below. Pros: Good fit & finish; repair function; name brand recognition; constant product improvement. Cons: None for now. Conclusion: At $70, rating this 5-stars. If you need onboard mounting, get the onboard model instead. Great charger and maintainer
I've had this for 10 months now and thought it was worth sharing how well this thing works! Used it on a lead acid battery last year(2025) and now an AGM battery this year(2026). I do mostly short into town trips so my batteries used to fall behind in charge before I got this. It keeps them charged and maintained very well. The mounting bracket is very nice along with the disconnectable plug to the battery. I keep the prong connected at all times and slipped the cord just under the hood and it rests below the windshield wipers. It does have a very snug cap on both cord ends. Then mounted the charger above my car plugging it into the garage door opener outlet so when I want to plug it in I just reach up and grab the cord I rolled up on a little hook next to it and plug in and no more worries. :) See in pictures

I've had this item for 2 years now. And I have to say it is one of the best purchases I've made. Background: I have a older car, that's kept outside here in toronto, The winter's here can be pretty bad. My car battery is not the greatest, and I found my battery was always draining. Constantly needed a jump. I looked at the big suitcase backpack looking ones, that CAA uses, then I saw this tiny noco. I'm glad I took the risk, it's paid for itself many times. Pros: it works. It's boosted my car, when the battery was completely dead. -The safety feature, meaning the electrics won't flow, if it's on the wrong positive or negative, was nice for those times when I was in a rush not paying attention -my model had a boost mode, so when I would activate it, it would force start my battery. -very quick. I always feel a little less than human, with people judging me when I have to jumpstart my car, I'm sure nobody cares, but I still feel a bit inadequate. This jump starts my car almost immediately. -this thing is tiny, I keep it in my glove box, it does what those huge jumper boxes that the professionals have, but since technology is so fantastic, they're able to make it so small but so powerful -I'm really impressed with the charge, I charged it once and it lasted over a year, with monthly use. I did recharge it just to be safe at the end of the first year. But I probably could have left it and it would have worked fine, there is a battery indicator as well. Cons: When I pull it out to help strangers restart their car, they look at me a little bit crazy thinking this little item can help. Then they ask me, where they can get one minutes later :) Recommendation: If you're someone who needs to jumpstart their car regularly, this thing is a lifesaver. Not only am I able to jumpstart my car when I need it fast and safely, I was able to help other strangers, simply because there wasn't a lot to hook up. It's a small unit and putting it on someone else's car, and jumping it takes a few minutes. I would 100% buy it again.

Don’t have experience with battery tenders/chargers, this is my first. But I can say very well built compact size. Intuitive setup. Using it to maintain my jeep wrangler AGM 70AH battery as I travel a lot don’t drive the car that much. Update: It has been amazing after few overnight charges the battery recuperated and seems to be back to its full swing. Starting the car now is seamless.
