They work well with their hooks and all, but the refill packs are magical. I have hung framed pictures (depending on weight and/size, but if you used a LOT of them, what could be possible?) closet lights, under the cabinet strip lights, corner protectors for walls, cord organizers and tons of things more. I have a smaller mag mirror on the bathroom mirror and a toothbrush and toothpaste holder in the... bathroom. So, yes you can hang pretty much smallish in your apartment/house. If you follow the instructions, read them completely before you in buy and then make your own decision. Smooth surface, clean with alcohol, apply to surface/wall, leave it alone for 24 hours and finally peel off the outer protective strip and press your mirror on it. Not super complicated, but I watched a YouTube video following my first two attempts. Especially make certain that the adhesive strips are placed so that you will be able to pull them off when no longer needed; there is an alternative removal tip if the pulling tab thing goes awry. NOW, you must decide which side of your mirror to sacrifice to the wall, although I'm guessing that you will want the magnifying side facing you. I am a renter and Command Strips have been a priceless help to me. I still love duct tape, but it now shares its place in my heart with Command Strips. It can not stand upright on its own. Being attached to the mirror is required. I don’t recommend this mirror. **Q: I have a hard time seeing the hole in my ear to put in earrings.
