POW! What a great little cup of coffee. My eyes light up every time I hear the espresso machine press water through the little aluminum cup. What a delicious blend. It’s not inexpensive. These days, it’s a luxury. But I can assure you the taste is consistently a great balance of smooth and stiff. I’m very happy with Illy Espresso Capsules. Hmmm…I may need to have another right now.

In the 2 years I lived in Italy, I developed a taste for espresso and cappuccino, which you can find in every corner of any city and town. I especially liked Illy, which is a rather popular brand in Italy. Upon coming back to NJ I decided that a good espresso machine was a must and I ended up purchasing a Nespresso original, which uses pods such as the Illy product in this review. It is - quite literally - a bit of nostalgia for the espresso of Rome or Florence in a cup accessible to me. The flavor profile is just right, with a good balance of nutty and smoky tones, low acidity and a robust profile that works well with steamed whole milk. I have nothing but good things to say about the entire Illy line of capsules. They are now cheap (about 50c each) and cleaning the pods to recycle the aluminum takes some work, but it's well worth the effort for a magnificent cup any time of the day.

It tastes great! Works with my Nespresso Original machine (little pods). Not for Nespresso Vertuo machines (half sphere pods). The taste is smoother than nespresso pods, so if you drink coffee with milk I recommend using less milk to get the same level of taste. Giving a 4 because I just find it is a bit expensive, knowing this is more expensive than some of the Nespresso packs.

I have tried dozens of types of coffee pods for our Nespresso all over the world. The Illy ones taste the best to me. Usually I have to have a second cup, which is unusual for me. Tastes great!

2026 UPDATE I have bought these direct from illy for over a year now. with their subscription, they actually cost less than amazon, and I've never once had a crushed pod. I highly recommend going through illy instead! UPDATE JUN 11 2024 I figured I'd give these one more try but I don't know why I bothered. The condition of my most recent order was even worse and while I love this coffee, I'm not ordering these through Amazon again. The box was torn open this time and crushed, and again I had crushed and unusable pods. The only way to get a refund is by making a request through Customer Service. It's not worth the effort, wasted money, and wasted time. These pods are so good that I kept giving the benefit of the doubt, but save yourself the hassle and wasted money and just buy them elsewhere if you can. I've only ever received two orders thst weren't damaged, don't make the mistake I made and keep trying. I'm over it lol. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I generally try not to review an item based on the shipment packaging or condition of the package when it arrives. I understand that with Amazon it's not really the vendor's fault. However, when it's such a consistent issue with a product that relies on keeping it's structure to work properly, I think it's important for other customers to be prepared. I order these somewhat regularly and lately I will consistently get at least two crushed pods per order. I'm not sure if this is an issue with how they're picked or how they're handled during delivery, but at this point it's become frustrating. These need to hold their shape to work in a nespresso machine, and they're nearly useless when they're crushed like this. Returning them would be a hassle when you order these specifically to arrive when you're about to run out. I know it's a small inconvenience, but I think the least I can expect is for my pods to arrive intact. I have to say that I really love the quality and convenience of the pods themselves. The coffee is amazing and for many reasons I don't buy coffee at chain coffee shops anymore, so these have been great. I almost exclusively use illy's pods now, and I've tried many other brands and roasts/ flavors. People in the office loved these pods and they didn't last long when we had them in stock. If you have them available to you anywhere else, I recommend buying them from some other source unless you're prepared to play crush roulette with Amazon.

I like Illy coffee a lot, so I’ve purchased this product several times for my Nespresso machine. The coffee tastes as good as many of the Nespresso products, better even than several of them (to me). However, the last few orders the box has come crushed. In a pack of 10, as many as 6 of the capsules have arrived damaged and dented. I can still use some of them but not all so really I’m purchasing 10 but receiving only 6 or 7. When I consider that the price has also gone up recently, I don’t feel it’s worth buying again.

Great taste a favourite with my dad . Tried a few brands and this I one of my favourites not too strong . Worth a try , if course all down to personal taste !
