The sharpener works great! I have a harbor freight automatic one that is hard to set up. This is very easy and sharpens both the cutting edge and the rakers simultaneously. Only a few pushes on each teeth makes a huge difference in your cutting. A little expensive, but well worth the money to know that you’re sharpening at the right angle. I have one for my large Stihl chainsaws and a different one for my small one. They both work great!

Easiest way I have found to sharpen my chain. Tool shows you which way to use it and it sharpens the blade and files the depth guide at same time, ensuring great cutting chains. Has saved me so much money by sharpening rather than replacing. Takes me less than 10 minutes for a 20 inch bar

This sharpener is unbelievably easy to use and highly effective. I watched the Stihl video before using. After about 5 minutes of use, the chain was like brand new. This is an excellent purchase.

I personally don't read 5 star reviews. This thing is great. The blade ends up surprisingly sharp and good as new. Easiest to clamp the blade in a vice but could be used in the field. Impressive and quick for a manual tool. I prefer power everything but the reviews are true, this thing is impressive.

I'm a chainsaw novice. I have a bunch of dead ash trees thanks to the emerald ash bore beetle. I figured I could save some money by buying a nice chainsaw and cutting them down myself. I noticed that it was getting harder and harder to saw the trees and eventually the chain bound and some of the drive links bent. I sucked it up and read the manual. What I didn't realize is the chain gets dull pretty quickly and you have to sharpen or replace it. Shut up, I said I was a novice and I'm too proud to read the manual until disaster hits. I went to the dealer and found a new chain was about $28. That was going to add up fast. I asked how much they'd charge to sharpen it. That was only $10. I went online and watched some videos. There are some cool tools to make sharpening easier, but they are kind of expensive and I'm a cheapskate--that's why I was doing this myself in the first place. I bought a vice and this file. The instructions were somewhat opaque and had no words, but knowing what I needed to do from the online videos, I was able to piece it together. The symbols on the file make clear what you are supposed to do once you figure things out. The first time I sharpened the chain it took 30 minutes, but each subsequent time, I got faster and after a half dozen or so sharpenings, I'm down to about 5 minutes. One helpful hint is that one of the links on the chain is green so you should start sharpening there so you can easily tell when you've gone around the entire chain. I'm not sure when I need to replace the files themselves, but as long as it keeps sharpening my chain, I guess I can keep using the initial files. I just finished cutting up my fourth tree today and am still on my second chain (that first one still has bent links).

Nach dem Einsatz die Sägekette nachzuschärfen, ist das A und O für den Kettensägeneinsatz. Wer mal gesehen hat, wie sich Stümper mit einer stumpfen Sägekette quälen (und ihre Umgebung nerven), weiß was ich meine. Warum sollte man andauernd die Sägekette nachschärfen? Habt ihr mal einen alten Metzger gesehen, wie er anscheinend ununterbrochen sein Messer an einem Wetzstahl schärft? Dito - weil es sich mit einem perfekt scharfen Werkzeug halt am besten arbeitet. Selbst die Kette zu feilen ist der richtige Weg. Gibt man eine Kette zum Schärfen in eine Schleiferei, wird viel zu viel weggeschliffen. Die teure Kette kann dann nicht oft nachgeschliffen werden. Andere Feillehren, die ich ausprobiert habe, sind entweder Murks, zu teuer und/oder zu umständlich. Mit dieser Kombi-Feile feilt man schnell und kinderleicht die Kettenglieder scharf und auch gleich die Höhenbegrenzer mit. Und man kann den richtigen Winkel sehr leicht einhalten. Das geht sogar mit der Kettensäge auf dem Schoß bei der Mittagspause im Wald. Die einzelnen Feilen kann man auswechseln und muss nicht alles neu kaufen. Vor dem Kauf muss man genau schauen, welcher Rundfeilen-Durchmesser und welche Kettenteilung für die eigene Technik passt. Diese Angaben stehen auf der Sägeketten-Verpackung.

These should be provided with every chainsaw. It is an excellent tool and very easy to use compared to separate flat and round files.

I think I found the best chainsaw sharpener going, It is easy to use, and wow bloody sharp, it took around 10min to sharpen, definitely recommend it
