Pediatric Epilepsy

The book was a product of many experienced and internationally-recognised pediatric epileptologists (physician specialised in epilepsy treatment), fully editted by Dr Michael Duchowny, one of the world-renowned and pioneers of epilepsy surgery in children. The book covers almost all aspects of epilepsy in children from definition, types, epileptic syndromes by age, investigation and variety of treatment. The stand out quality of this book is that every chapter is very concise that you can finish it within half an hour per chapter (and this is from my own experience and I consider myself quite a slow reader when it comes to English language). Moreover, the authors also give you some "tips" from their own experience regarding the topic as well as the information from studies and research. It also contains lots of very useful diagrams for a quick review.In summary, as an American-trained pediatric neurologist and epileptologist myself, I strongly recommend this book for everybody who is interested and/or involves in the care of children with epilepsy.

I pre-ordered this book - my mistake. The book is poorly organised, some introductory chapters (e.g. networks and systems in epilepsy; EEGs) are too complicated and do not provide a basic understanding of the topic. To make matters worse, there is extensive use of abbreviations often of the author's own invention without providing a key, making it necessary to refer back. Several spelling mistakes (even the abbreviations are wrongly spelt, e.g. there is mention of SMEB, when actually they are talking about SMEI, which I realised based on context), making the book even less comprehensible. Overall, will not recommend.
