Purchased with Orbeez Crush - Crushkins. My daughter and I enjoyed playing with this set up and used this set along with the crushkins set for me options. Loved it. As previously stated in my Crushkins review, it is a little messy but nothing worse than play doh or even kinetic sand.

A Fun, Messy Hour!
First, I must admit, these things feel like happiness. I couldn't stop touching them. They look and feel like I'd imagine Nemo's unborn brothers and sisters would feel. It's sensorial Heaven. I bought these for my 5 year old daughter for Easter after she freaked out over youtube videos of kids playing with them. But don't think you can buy these and your child will play by themselves for hours happily. Nope nope. You will be a huge part of this adventure, from beginning to clean up! Per the instructions, we (I) used bottled water so they would stay mold-free longer, and soaked 5 of the packets overnight (in individual sip & toss cups) to keep the colors separated. I didn't put the lid on the cups, which was mistake number 1, because these buggers bounce when you spill them (and you WILL spill them) and when I say bounce I mean they become invisible and fly around the room at warp speed. When that happens to you just know you'll never see those again so just give up on them, they're gone. Then, we (I mean I) put each color carefully into the tubes that will let your child have tons of fun pressing the buttons to make them pour out rapid fire into the little plastic cup they provided for crushing. You'll lose more of them to your house doing this also. My daughter was able to crush them using all of her 40 pounds of body weight and didn't need help doing that. But dumping them into the "frosting bags" requires supervision. You'll also have to tie the top of the bag closed for her with the clear rubber bands that come with it. She had a lot of fun decorating the little butterfly and cupcakes that came with this, however the cupcakes have a tiny hole that you must line up the frosting bag with, to get the crushed orbeez inside of them. And since the pieces don't lock together, they can also slide off while doing this, making it hard for little hands to maneuver. Second mistake was doing this at our dining room table. Contrary to what they say, this product makes a huge mess. The crushed ones are all over the place and still wet and slippy, they do not clean up easily. It's advised to NOT put them down the drain, so I had to use a bowl filled with water to rinse off all the little plastic pieces when she was finished playing, and dump the water out in our lawn. Then repeat to be safe. The nice thing is they are actually good for your lawn. You can even collect all the crushed orbeez and add them to your garden or plant soil to keep it hydrated. The product lost a review simply for their failure to admit this toy is messy. I also feel that for the price, they could have included many more packets of orbeez.

Fun to grow 'em, squish 'em, crush 'em and create with them!
Yes! this was a hit for my 10 year old granddaughter. It was on her Christmas list but I didn't think she'd love it this much. It takes a while for them to "grow" in water, but during those (ab out 2 hours) she had plenty to keep her busy while she anticipated the Orbeez to "mature". At full size (3/8") she loves to run her fingers through them (and her feet) and squish them around. I must admit it is a unique experience. After a long time of playing with them she used her Sweet Treats Studio tools to crush them and makes the treats conjured by her imagination. when crushed, the Orbeez look like apple sauce, but when you run your fingers through it, it's refreshing (and not at all sticky or gooey).

my 6 year olds love it!
My 6 year old twin daughters received this for Christmas and it's definitely favorite of theirs! You have to throw away everything you create, but they still love it. I personally love doing it with them because the orbeez feel cool and it's a satisfying feeling when you crush them hehe We bought the off brand, much cheaper orbeez to replenish the ones we used and they work great. I guess my only gripe would be the taking the rubber bands off the bags because you do have to put them on pretty tight to keep the crushed orbeez from coming out the wrong end when squeezing it and it makes it a pain to get off. I just used some twist ties we had lying around in stead.

If your worst enemy designed a toy for your kids, this would be it...
You are likely reading these reviews and thinking...yes, messy for some, but not my kids. I thought that too and I went ahead and bought this for a birthday gift for my daughter. In hindsight, I would have rather bought her a squirt gun full of grape juice with permanent marker grenades. This is the messiest toy every designed. After the birthday party, all the kids want to play with it. 1st problem, it takes 4 hours to grow the Orbeez balls into their full floor destroying selves. They sit in a bowl of water waiting to get all over your house. Once they are ready, they go in a cup to be smashed. However, it takes beyond a little girl's strength to smash them in this small, poorly designed cup. So mess one will come with the cup tips over during smashing and flies all over your floor. Then what is left goes into a piping bag which doesn't like up with the holes well and small watery plastic badness will get everywhere. Then the finale, they will lift their proud designs in the air only for the cupcake pieces to fall apart and again land on your floor. Please, don't be like me...don't buy these unless you love scrapping plastic watery gunk off your floors...which in case, buy 5. The fun vs. mess factor was not there for me.

I would recommend placing a large drop cloth in a room to clean up the Orbeez that fall... and they will fall! They bounce and scatter like crazy.. We never got to make our fun desserts because my daughter kept bumping the Orbeez dispenser and they fell twice. Cleaning these up is such a hassle. I'm giving a good rating because this is a really cool concept and they are fun to play with. It's just too much work and supervision for smaller children. My daughter saw a YouTube video and really wanted these so that is why I purchased for her. She is 4 years old.
