MehronMakeup Lipstick (.21 oz) (Black)

I don't know if there was a mix-up at the warehouse or what, but I bought Mehron black lipstick. Here's what I got:  Rubie's Costume Co Women's Cream Lipstick, Black, One Size The problem being that Mehron is a well-trusted, professional-grade makeup company that caters to entertainers of all sorts, while Rubie's is a cheaper-than-Walmart-Halloween-Stock alternative. Giving people Rubie's, when they're paying for Mehron, is a scam and also hurts Mehron's reputation. I'll admit, when I first got it, I thought it was Mehron. The packaging didn't exactly have RUBIE'S at the top in bold letters, and if I nearly made that mistake, I'm certain others have.This review, and the picture, is for what came in the mail when I purchased this title.Rubie's black lipstick is barely more than a tint, it never dries, and smudges like no tomorrow. Definitely not something suited for an entertainer who needs to be able to apply and forget.Thank the powers that be for Amazon Prime and free returns.

This lipstick is ok, but I wasn't blown away. It is fairly pigmented, but it takes a very thick application to get a dark black like what you see on the packaging, and it is very smudgy.Works well when blended with a deep red to create a very nice burgendy, but otherwise is just 'ok'.

This one rubs off rather easily. It is probably best to use a lip liner first as to not have to deal with smudges. The colour is saturated and dark as should be, if glossy. The quality seems like what it should be for that price.

This lipstick is a rich black and silky smooth. It does smear and rub off quite easily, however, which is a downside if you'll be wearing it extensively (say, all day in cosplay at a convention). I'm sure there's a way to seal it, so it doesn't smear, and I'll be doing some experimenting with other makeup to see if anything will set it without turning it rigid or cakey. All in all, not a bad purchase.

You could tell it was old and dry. Pro is that is does stick to you and doesn’t come off easily. Good for Halloween for sure. Not an every day lipstick though.

The lipstick itself is very dark and applies very smoothly that's the awesome part. On the other hand you have to reapply soooooo many times. For me it was like every ten minutes.

This is a really high quality, theatre-grade lipstick, which is what I wanted. However, I can't say that I was expecting the taste to be so awful. I have to be really careful when applying it so that I don't taste it. The color, however, is so dark and dramatic, it's amazing. So I guess I can deal with the taste for now!

So, this is the second time I've bought black lipstick. I love the moisture it has. However, if you do not put foundation or primer on your lips prior to wearing this lipstick, it will smudge off. But, anyone who wears makeup (and wears it right) knows that the lips must be prepared before wearing lipstick anyway. Good product
