DALSTRONG - Omega Series - BD1N-V High Carbon - Hyper Steel

I thought I would treat myself, as do like a steak and thought it would be nice to create an experience around it. I've also now bought some wooden steak trays as you can't use these on hard plates without possibly damaging the edge. They come in a nice cardboard padded box, each in its own fake leather sheath, I would have preferred leather as these just have a funny smell, but could always makes some custom ones. They are secured in the sheath with a push through piece of the fake leather. The handle is smooth and comfy in the hand, with the nice ornate metal piece in it. You can see the full tang through the handle so seems a nice design. Onto the main part, the blade; it's a large blade for a steak but looks good. Putting it next to a 12-16oz steak, it looks like a carving knife :). Supposedly with a hardness of 63! Sounds like this might be a powder steel and also sounds like the outer liquid effect is not the same hard steel as in the core! Imagine to protect it. The liquid design has a questionable look, I'm a big fan of damascus and think a damascus layered blade would have been even prettier, this liquid effect can seem a bit cheap looking. The text printed on the blade is scratchy and I would say the worst thing about these. The metal is that hard that it is fragile, I knocked the blade edge jently on the metal sink side and it did chip slightly, which was a surprise! Onto using them, they cut well, they could do with an extra finishing sharpen, which I did a couple strokes of; they cut the steak well and are a talking piece for your visitors, experiencing your visual and tasty meal. The blade is also a nice slim thickness, it's not a wide blade which I also like, it cuts through more like a scalpel. In all a nice product, a bit expensive but will last a lifetime.

So I have seen many reviews for Dalstrong say ‘hype’ ‘over-rated’ I say rubbish! The reviews not the knives, they are incredible!! Every industry needs quality new comers to shake up complacent suppliers. Dalstrong has the world of knives on it’s head and rightly so.

Fakes. Not original. Spelling error on box and literature "Stell" instead of "steel". confirmed when ordered another 4 from Dalstrong website. Put products next to each other. The original knives are awesome, super sharp, lovely finish, super leather casing. These are not them.

Very classy knife set. I bought them for a wedding gift and decided to keep them for myself Lol. I just couldn’t give them away. Gorgeous set!!

These are a beauty to see, a pleasure to cut a nice steak with, as with anything Dalstrong they are super sharp!

If you're looking for a Top-Quality knife set that compliments your best steak dishes, this is the knife set for you. I am very particular on quality, features and aesthetics and these knives passedd MY test :)

Individual sheaths that clip closed are great! Knives are super sharp and cut steak like butter. Con per husband, there's no finger stop between the handle and the blade. Tread carefully and it's fine.
