The USB connector housing on one end is 1.5 inches. The Surface connector housing on the other end is 1.75 inches. **Q: Why not just plug the usb c cable into the usb c charging port?** A: If your Surface has a USB C port you can but depending on the charger and cable it can be very slow, Microsoft does not seem to recommend it. Most usb-c chargers do not have the power of 15v4a. Basically, the nominal value of 60w is 20V3A. The surface requires 15V, so 15V4A is actually not available in USB-C charger.
