Comfort and quality with above average sound
Just got my new Roccat Kave XTD in the mail yesterday and so far I am loving it. I have owned several gaming headsets from Sony and Turtlebeach to the Prismatic Afterglow. I played some Battlefield 4 last night for about 3 hours to test it out and this is my first impressions with the headset. Lets get right down to it. PROS Comfort - I would say this is the most comfortable headset I have owned. The cups are large and put no presser on your ears, it is also light and has thick padding on the band so there is no downward presser on your head. I played for 3 hours and felt zero discomfort. Quality - This headset is built very well. I own a ROCCAT mouse and keyboard and they are all built extremely well with a lot of thought on design and comfort. This headset feels the same, very high end when it comes to it's construction and durability. Features - The USB remote is a very nice feature on this headset. Others I have owned have controls on the headset or little controllers connected to the wire that are usually a hassle to adjust. They can be hard to see and also difficult to quickly adjust while you are gaming. The remote with this headset is build well, illuminated with large controls and has a nice weight to it so it stays put on your desk. It is very quick and easy to make adjustments on the fly while you are playing. I'm not going to go into detail on all the functions on this remote as they are listed in the product description but I can say they all seem to work as described. Sound - The 5.1 surround sound on this headset is very good. I wouldn't say it blew me away but it was clearly better than others that I have owned. The directional sound was quite good and I could clearly hear a distinct difference in where sounds were coming from that were pretty accurate. I will say that the software for this headset offers a lot of adjustments that I have not experimented with. As I play around with them I will update my review to give a better idea of the sound quality. CONS Bluetooth functionality - I had some issues getting the Bluetooth working as described in the instructions. My wife called me while I was playing and I was able to answer the call with the phone button on the remote but I could not hear her talking. I ended up hanging up and un-pairing the phone from the remote. She said she could hear me but I was not able to hear her. Later I messed around with it and got it working but I was not in a game when I tested it. I will update this as I experiment with it further. Price - 169.99 is a lot of money for a headset and this may be a factor for you. I got it on sale for 149.99 and will say that if preforms better than any of the $100 headsets I have owned in the past. Compatibility - Currently this headset only works with PC so Console gamers are out of luck CONCLUSION Overall I am very pleased with this headset. I have not owned it for long by my first impressions are very positive. For me the comfort level alone with this headset make it worth the extra money. As I get more time with it I will update my review as I have not touch the surface of a lot of the features. I will also try and post some Equalizer settings once I get things adjusted to really maximize the sound.

Sold as working perfect..
Was worried about buying used. Many issues with this. But i think it was faluty unit. Sold as working perfect.....what a joke. Comfy, with decent enough sound. Outside of the issues i had. The wire transfers so much noise into the headset. From rubbing on your shirt or w/e. Would stay away from them based on that alone. If that does not obther i would buy no problem. Just buy new. Don't trust these guys.

Good, but not good enough. Returned for a full refund.
I know what you might be thinking. "Two stars? Why!? It looks so good!!" You'd be right - it does look good! But looks aren't everything. Allow me to share my experience. I currently have a wireless headset, the Corsair Vengeance 2000. It replaced my old wired Cooler Master CM Storm Sirus (Not Sirus-S or whatever it is - I had the full blown Sirus with the giant desktop puck). The CM Storm Sirus had beautiful bass. The bass was really powerful. I had it for a year and a half or so before the cable began shorting out near the left ear cup where it connected, so I got the Vengeance 2000 to replace it. The Vengeance 2000 is nice. It only lacks good bass. For this reason, I began shopping for a new headset. The following are the huge pros of the Roccat Kave XTD which pushed my purchase to final: 1) TRUE 5.1 - not digital, virtual nonsense. Actual 5.1 surround. Virtual surround sounds like crap in my personal, honest opinion. 2) USB powered. My motherboard's audio chipset is broken in some way, and anything going through it is highly distorted. As a result, USB is my only option for a headset unless I want to spend another $60 to $90 for a good sound card in addition to a headset with 3.5mm jacks. 3) Nice mixing console with mic mute, speaker mute, and a toggle to control the volume of each individual speaker set (front, back, center, sub) 4) Comfortable! Much more comfortable than the CM Storm Sirus. 5) Very light. Again, much lighter than the CM Storm Sirus. Might even be as light as my Vengeance 2000! 6) Doesn't look like a cheap piece of trash. Construction quality is nice, even in person. The images of the headset don't at all lend to it having cheap construction quality. Now that the pros are out of the way, allow me to address the cons of this headset. 1) The bass is underwhelming. Seriously. If you want good bass, look elsewhere. The Kave XTD will NOT deliver in this aspect! Very disappointed by the bass. 2) Cable from the mixing console to the headset is too short for me personally. 3) The odd shape of the mixing console makes it difficult to find a place for it to fit on a cramped desk. 4) The microphone... did not work. The power LED for the mic being plugged into the headset worked. The mute LED on the mic worked. But no sound came through the mic whatsoever. I unplugged it, plugged it back in, reinstalled the driver, restarted the computer... Nothing. Null. No sound through the mic. As you can see, my only *REAL* complaint (aside from the defective microphone) about this headset is the extremely depressing bass. At this price point, I expect bass that'll blow me away. I expect bass that rivals the bass of my old CM Storm Sirus for which I paid $100! It just simply is not there. All in all, for $150, this headset is a waste of time and money. It looks nice, it's comfortable, it weighs practically nothing, and it's fully featured. But the bass is depressing, and for that reason, I am overall disappointed in the product. I was already considering sending it back for a refund before I checked the microphone. When I found that the microphone did not function at all, my decision was final. I requested a return and refund.

It litteraly took me a week to find the perfect sound for music, movies and games. But when i found it, I was just amazed by the quality this headset could have with your own settings (if you want help with the settings i can send you screenshots of mine) like, with it the music is good, but the gaming experience is perfect, fully immersive, for battlefield for exemple or other fps. The fact that you can connect your phone to the remote of your headset is really helpful, it's annoying when people are calling you and you're in the middle of a game and you're the last man of your squad alive, you can just pick up, tell the person to call you later and go back to the game. The fact that there's also an option to turn all your sound down, or change from the headset to the speakers with one click is really awesome, i used to always go to the sound settings and switch to my speakers and it wasn't really pleasing. I paid these £125, and i honestly think that it's worth it, people saying that "'it's not worth the price" just think about it : the remote is about the size of my hand, there's a bluetooth option to connect your headset to your phone, a soundcard with a jack hup to connect your speakers, and 3 high-end driver units per earcup, and an AWESOME microphone (oh i forgot to mention you could mute the mic from the remote, and when you press the button to turn all the sounds down it also mutes your microphone), then i think it's worth the price. Even though the software for it isn't perfect, roccat is still working on it. Anyway, i think that this heaset is really good, my opinion, maybe you don't or won't, but i got gaming 10 headsets before this one and this one is really pleasing me !

Nice headphones, you have to download the drivers from the website because the CD in the package has drivers only for win7 I guess and not win 10. Some gimmicky features are there which are I believe situation specific. 5.1 Audio (with rear channels) is heard but you can differentiate it as rear sound only if you wear it in a particular way.
