Summer Infant DuoMat for Car Seat, Black

We have four of these mats distributed throughout a Honda Odyssey Minivan right now. As you can tell, we love them and they work. Our oldest is 5 years old and youngest is 3 months old. All of them are holding up very well. No tears or seams coming apart. No cracking to the waterproof material, even in high stress points like where the car seats sit on the mat. Everyone of these mats that we have ordered has been brand new. We have not had a single issue with any of them. There hasn't been any harsh odors or funny smells to get over. They are well made. These mats are always catching things and protecting the seats to the van. Anything between crumbs to liquid. Our little girl fell asleep one day and had an accident. The mat contained a puddle when we got home and allowed us to clean everything up without a single drop reaching the seat to the van. The mesh storage compartments in the front of the mats are mostly for toys. Anything you put in there is going to get smashed! The kids can't help it. Their legs and feet hang out of the car seat and whatever is in these storage areas will get kicked for the duration of the ride. The seat belt paths in the mat are well placed. I move the child seats around a lot to let the kids take turns running errands with me in the truck. I'm thankful the mat isn't a pain or getting in the way when doing this. The mats don't aid in the child seat from moving around in my opinion. You child seat should be strapped in tightly with the belt system you are using. This mat doesn't aid in that with a proper installation of the seat. I'm a car seat technician in the state that I work in. I asked our car seat instructors about these mats. They said they are thin enough to not manipulate a proper installation of a child seat. Where you would have problems is if a mat is too thick and settles over time allowing the seat to be loose, that is not the case with these mats. We recommended these to everyone that has kids. It will save your vehicle's seats in so many ways. We've already seen one mat go from being under an infant seat to now a forward facing seat. That's durability that we are needing. They are well worth the price. If anything changes with these mats then I will update this review. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.

I needed three, but I bought one first just to try it and see if it would fit securely with our car seats. I am picky about safety and properly installing, and I am pleased to say that with these seat protectors I was able to get a good, tight install! I installed it with the protectors, uninstalled it and took the protectors out, then installed it again without changing any of the tightness, and the car seat was still nice and tight. So I feel good about using these to protect my leather seats! They seem to be good for saving the seats from crumbs, but time will tell how good they are about not leaving marks on the seats. If I have any problems with them in the future, I'll update my review. Until then, you can assume they are doing a great job!

We've had one of these protectors for 2 years and I just purchased another one, as we're having another child and will need to put another car seat in the car. The one that we have had for 2 years has worked out great. It is a quality cover and definitely protects the seat. It now serves an additional purpose of catching crumbs that make their way out of the car seat. There's plenty of room on each side of the car seat for bigger seats. We use a Graco convertible seat and it works great. The Graco infant base also had plenty of room on each side. The cover looks brand new still. We use the pockets in the front for all sorts of things (tissues, little toys, extra straws, garbage, sunglasses). I'm very thankful for those pockets! :) We've not had one problem with this cover.

When I needed a seat protector for my granddaughter’s car seat, my daughter recommended the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat, Black”. In 2011, I purchased a Prince Lionheart 2 Stage Seatsaver for my grandson’s car seat. While I liked its beige color, that particular two-piece seat protector did not provide complete coverage of the seat. In contrast, the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat Black” completely covers the seat of my Toyota Highlander. Further, the pocket on the front of the DuoMat hangs over the front edge of the seat and provides additional protection to the front of the seat base. I liked the construction of the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat Black”. The back, bottom, and pocket join into one continuous unit. Because you do not have to be concerned about positioning both pieces correct, that makes installation less “irritating”. A heavy-duty, twill-like tape binds the entire outer edge of the DuoMat. Strategically located fold-lines result in better fit of the DuoMat to your specific vehicle. In the event of an accident, the non-skid backing helps minimize the chance that the DuoMat will slide. I am using the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat Black” with a rear-facing infant seat, so I decided to sew ties made from double-fold bias tape onto the back top-edge binding. This allowed me to secure the DuoMat’s back to the headrest posts and helped prevent the back from flopping over. Although I could have folded the DuoMat’s back down, I preferred having the entire back of my vehicle’s seat protected. It would have been nice if the manufacturer had recognized that parents/grandparents might prefer to secure the seat protector’s back and had put ties on the DuoMat. I would have liked it if I had had another color option when I purchased the DuoMat. Although black does not show the dirt, it absorbs heat and in Texas that is something to consider. Further, because my car’s interior is a light tan, if the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat, Black” does stick or transfer color to the leather, it will be more noticeable. I am very pleased with the “Summer Infant Elite DuoMat for Car Seat, Black”. I would recommend it to anyone needing a car seat protector. The things I did not care for were not significant enough to warrant subtracting a star.

This is a great way to create a barrier between my child's car seat and my brand new car's seat. It covers the base well and has a thicker pad there so there won't be indentations from the car seat left behind. We have the seat covering the back of the seat in it's entirety, though you can have it folded down to only cover where your child's feet with touch if they are rear facing. My son is forward facing at this point. The material is easy to clean. It would be simple to spot clean or even toss in the washing machine, though it shouldn't ever get that dirty. I like that there is a small compartment that hangs over the seat that you can store things like small toys or snack bags and sippy cups, though most car seats can hold sippy cups too. Just one more way to stay organized and clean in your vehicle. We're actually going to purchase another of these for my other child's booster seat. Great buy for the price as well. We have used other items by the brand Summer and have been pleased. They are manufactured well and hold up well over time, so I have no doubt this will be the same way.

We recently leased a new vehicle and wanted to add a layer of protection, so we purchased these covers. In our previous vehicle, the car seats left an imprint in the leather when tightened in place over long periods of time, which they were most of the time. There were also incidences of spilled milk, juice, and snacks, so we felt these covers would protect from that as well. We chose these covers over the other, lesser expensive, options due to their size (providing adequate coverage for larger convertible car seats), thickness (eliminating the imprint left in leather when seats are installed for long periods of time), and overall quality. The covers fit nicely in our SUV, I especially like the non-slip material on the back, keeping them in place, and the mesh pockets on the front for storage (you can never have enough). When we purchased these, they were only marginally more than the smaller options, making them a great value, but prices are subject to change as they are more expensive at the time of this review than what we paid for them. Regardless, even at their current price, I feel they are a good value compared to the other options available.

I was looking for a cover for the leather seats in the back of my new car. I actually have two grown babies (LOL!) ages 17 and 20 that have a tendency to leave dirt on my seats. I had a long beach towel and thought, "this is just not cute!" In search of the perfect cover, I came across this one. There were several amazon customers who previously purchased it and didn't recommend it for the purpose I needed it for, but by the time I got their comments, I had already ordered the seats (:(. They arrived at the same time as my universal bucket seat covers. So, I turned the duomat upside down (since my kids really didn't need to use the mesh pockets provided), and then I inserted a hook (that happen to come with the bucket seat covers) on the leather lining of the mesh pocket, and then I took thin wire and thread it through the hook, and thread it around the head rest adjuster and WALA! I had an instant seat cover that was secured. The covers are VERY nice looking and a great cover for my leather seats to protect against my grown babies food droppings (:)

I bought this years ago, and returned it when my son was in a rear facing seat, I recently repurchased it now that he faces forward. My SUV has leather seats and was being DESTROYED by milkshake spills and the like. Which all in all, I'm okay with - but figured I'd give this a try to make cleaning my car a little easier. WHAT A DREAM. I pulled the seat out the other day to find this covered in milkshake, stuck fruit snacks, etc. I put it in the sink with hot water and a scrubby and viola - all clean, and the seat stayed fresh. It also comes with a piece that you stuff in between the bottom and top rest, so it doesn't shift at all, which makes it seem a bit safer to me. Here's the one downside - (could be an upside) my seats are relatively narrow, and this is wide, so although there is a cutout, I still have to dick with the seat belt a bit to get it around this and latch the seat belt properly.
