The 90-degree connector works better for placing your phone landscape (such as while using map navigation while driving) and results in less tension on the connector of the lightning cable.Cons: The length of the cable (4 feet/48 inches) is too long for some applications, so excess (quite a bit) will need to be bundled up and tucked out of the way if used in a car. The 90-degree connector is almost too long and sticks out way too far. Yes, I am aware that the reason we have the extra-long connector on any lightning cable is due to Apple requiring a chip to further pad their wallets (there is no real purpose for the chip other than to try to limit non-Apple sanctioned companies from producing/selling cables. Obviously this has failed. Nice try Apple.). Why Belkin chose to put the chip before the elbow on this connector instead of after it is beyond me. The connector would stick out far less and be more secure if it had been.TLDR: The cable is too long and the 90-degree connector was not well thought out. Hopefully a shorter cable will surface that has a better designed 90-degree connector that does not stick out so far from where it connects to your iDevice. Others are either over-priced or are cheaply made (ALWAYS check the reviews).NOTE: I had originally ordered a BLACK 90-degree cable, but received a non 90-degree cable. Quite surprising considering the box was marked black 90-degree lightning to USB cable. When I contacted Amazon to have them replace it with the correct cable, Customer Service simply refunded my money (not sure what's happening with Amazon CS, but they used to be much better than they are now). I went to re-order the cable by clicking the link in my Orders tab and... it now linked to a straight lightning-to-USB cable, while the order clearly indicated I had ordered a 90-degree connector. Several colors to choose from, but not black, so I purchased a WHITE cable. I truly think that Belkin screwed this up and Amazon had to deal with it, but I really wanted the black cable so it would blend in better in my car. I ordered this in November 2015 and received a straight cable, with no 90 degree bend. I returned that for a replacement and got the same straight cable again, and I have been using that until I got this.I got this for my girlfriend, who while in bed sits her phone down on its cable and uses it that way. She completely destroyed the original cable that came with her phone, and after seeing that I got her an Emtec 90 degree cable, which is also a good cable, but she destroyed that by unplugging it by pulling on the cord. After a bit of scolding I was able to get her to start unplugging it by the plug instead of the cord, but the cable was already toast. This cable however, has a bit of a longer plug than the Emtec cable, so it is easier for her to unplug this one by the plug.In summary, this cable fixed two problems: This cable is not affected by resting the phone on the base of the cable, and this cable has a nice sized plug that goes into the phone, and it is easy to pull it out by the plug.
