The caps fit tightly so I guess carbonated beverages would maintain their fizz as long as the cap was screwed on with vigor. I have had absolutely no problem with them and they have been re-used over and over. Not one has leaked. I recently ordered two more sets. While, the company recommends handwashing I do put them in the dishwasher, but if heated drying is used I would about guarantee they will melt. I use NORMAL WASH and TURN OFF the HEAT on drying and have had no problems. I did test it with one bottle first. Again, NO HEAT during the drying cycle. The company does not recommend this, but it works for me.
