Unit is very light. Base holding up well without torquing. **Q: Is this product made in the usa?** A: No. It’s made in China but it is a great tool. I use it every day to build custom guitars. **Q: What size belt fits in inches?** A: 4 x 24" **Q: The sandpaper from the belt sander keeps moving up out of position. Is there a way to tighten the belt other than the middle lever?** A: There are two issues which may be causing the sandpaper to drift off the platform. First would be putting too much pressure on the workpiece leaning into the sandpaper. If the sandpaper belt drifts up without anything being sanded, then the second cause would be to blame, with is the alignment of the sanding bed. Easy to fix, there is a Phillips screw on the top that if you tighten or loosen (I am talking a quarter turn each time) to adjust the belt to where it stays. I do not like the plastic knob and boltnsystem used to keep the belt system in and spinning. During sanding it gets so tight it cannot get taken off, and the plastic outer "knob" breaks loose and just spins around the inner metal bolt. Only poorly desogned piece on the whole unit. I contacted the company for a replacement over 2 months ago and none have been sent out. Very frustrated at their customer service.
