Easy to install. Some people said they bought heavier screws, I do not see why. The 8 screws included work fine. I did need to drill pilot holes for the screws, which are not self-tapping, but that's fine. I have tested the unit by raising the garage door while the deadbolt is closed. 1. It holds the door shut, and 2. The deadbolt frame does not tear out of the door frame where it is bolted. My garage door frame track has square cutouts along it, and one of them was absolutely perfect size and width to use as a catch for the bolt when thrown, so I didn't even need to cut the metal track. I feel SO much more secure with this installed. I also installed a remote control switch between my garage door opener on the ceiling, and the electric socket on the ceiling, about $10. I mounted the remote control switch on the wall right next to the garage door switch by my entry door. This double protection will foil the thieves that use scanners to open automatic garage doors.

I was looking for a way to secure my garage door. They are original to my house and manually open and close. I have a 2 car attached garage and the doors are heavy solid wood. The key locks broke a couple of years ago but since I had 2 very large Rottweilers I was unconcerned about intruders they are gone now and I have a little shih tzu. About a week ago ( I live with my daughter and grandson) I’m disabled, a man just opened my gate walked into my yard and was looking into my slider. When asked to leave he asked for money or tools. So, I started looking for a way to lock down everything!! I found these garage locks and can padlock them into position if I choose! They were easy as pie to install!! And the price was phenomenal! I had the garage locked down in literally 15 minutes. Thank you for the peace of mind!

I was a bit skeptical of this lock due to the price, but, went ahead and ordered 2. These locks replaced the OEM locks on an older door. The latch is of considerable heft, and considerably thicker than the original. Although screws are included, I suggest you don't use them, and use instead hex head self-tapping #12 or #14 screws as I did. I only give 4 stars due to the undersized screws included. Good product otherwise!

This garage door lock worked great and was extremely easy to install. I like it a lot better that the old double arm one with the sprig that fell apart on me.

Used for when my garage door broke and didn’t have anytime to replace it. Took me about 3 min to install from opening the box to installing the unit. Very easy to install. Very durable. Cheap piece of mind. Locks and unlocks very easily! Great product!

I am pleased with the sturdiness of the unit and think it will last many years, but the included hardware is a joke. The unit has 1/4" holes, but #8 self-tapping screws were supplied. These are completely inadequate. Sure they'll hold it in place for normal use, but this unit is designed to prevent someone from forcing your garage door open. Since these little screws don't even fill-up the holes, no matter how tight they are, they'll allow the unit to slide up and down when force is applied, which will lead to them being sheared off. Buy this knowing you will also need to take a trip the the hardware store to buy 1/4" x 3/4" self-tapping screws like the ones used in all your other garage door hardware.

The self tapping screws worked perfectly as this is meant to be installed on the door itself. I did have to find the "knock-out" in the garage door rails and punch them out so I had a hole large enough to accept the locking bar of this unit. It literally took me under a minute to install after I punched out rail hole and lined it up.

Very sturdy lock. Well made. Installed on my new garage door that don't come with a lock? Very good if you don't have automatic door opener. I don't so this was perfecto! I bought another lock before this one for the same price, and was made so cheap, I had to return. So glad I did to end up with this one :D
