The pictures are elusive regarding that. however, considering he sits on my bar with his back to the wall, I don't care about that. If anything it keeps him flush on the wall and isn't taking up too much bar space. The bowl. Yes it's thin plastic. The reason is weight. If it had been heavier, you wouldn't be able to put anything in the bowl and not have him fall over. I keep him full of candy and he hasn't gone over yet. I don't heap the candy in the bowl either. The paint job is great, he looks cool. The design is awesome. Ours is on carpet and he stands okay but he has tilted a couple times so I just sit him next to the wall. The kids love him. **Q: What is the material?** A: It's some time of foam. I bought it to use it for work at Halloween. Folks thought it was "cute" and "fun". One caveat...if you fill the candy bowl completely full, then the stormtrooper tends to fall forward. To keep him steady, you would need to either tape or glue his feet down on something (table or board), or push his back against a wall and use either double-sided tape or velcro on his back to stick him up against a wall. The product is made of partly hollow, molded styrofoam.
