Quartet Chalkboard

I wanted to start using chalkboards in cute ways with the kids, you know like “first day of 5th Grade”, “2nd birthday”, “Lost a tooth”, ect. This board was a good size at the right price, so I was sold. The board itself is on the cheap side. The “wood” obviously isn’t real. It looks like particle board with a sticker type thing on top. The black writing area is a very heavy plastic covered board it appears. I’m not really trying to put it down because it’s exactly what I expect for the price. This was $9.17 when I got it, the price has increased slightly. This was the cheapest board I could find in this size. Most of the others were at least double the price. I try to have realistic expectations of things, so I was actually impressed with this for it's price. I have been using this with chalkboard markers and love it. I have done quite a few designs, I’m posting 2 of them on here. I have the “Summer Fun 2015” on there right now. So when I snap a picture of the kids I try to put this in the photo so I can remember when it was taken. My daughter has a blast helping me design and make signs. Pinterest has been my biggest friend in coming up with designs. I am not an inherently creative person, so I have a board with tons of pins to help me come up with ideas. They have lots of cool lettering, borders, doodles, corners, edges, banners, ect. Now that I’m sure I’m going to keep chalkboarding I plan on finding a higher quality board and giving this to my daughter. If you’re in the market for an inexpensive sign I definitely recommend this, if you have some money to spend and want something high quality you might want to keep shopping. Update: I've been using this for a few months now and LOVE it. I use it all the time (as you can see from the pictures and that's a small snapshot of all of them). I write my kids notes, make signs for special events and really, really enjoy it. Update Aug 2016: Still loving it. It sits proudly in my kitchen displaying inspirational quotes. I bought my sister in law the white one for Christmas with some chalkboard markers. No issues at all with it!

Honestly, this is the perfect chalkboard for notes, milestones, etc. I was hesitant because some reviews said it was cheaply made, too small, etc. However I think the quality is great. It works awesome with chalkboard markers. I bought the Versachalk Neon markers and they work so good and erase easily with a damp cloth. It came with the hardware to hang on the wall if you want. I originally bought it to write on for my sons forst day of preschool, but I think I will hang it up and use it as a message board or planner. Just get it. It's great quality and great price.

This board is a great size and looks sharp. Comes with easy to use hardware to hang it but I wound up applying magnets with double sided tape to attach it to my fridge. Bonus: there is a slot cut into the top of the frame that holds chalk! I tried to make my own chalk board w/ chalk spray paint and a sanded cookie sheet. It cost me about as much as this chalk board, and a lot of time sanding...and it didn't work. This chalk board is awesome and worth every penny!

This chalkboard is really nice. It is a 14 inch square. There is a fake wood frame around the edge. It comes with everything you need to hang it on the wall. It is really nice looking and lightweight. This chalkboard is not a smooth shiny chalkboard. It works well with regular chalk sticks and with most chalk markers. I have used a lot of chalk markers on it and they all work wonderfully except the metallic ones. The metallic ones leave a big smear and do not come off completely even with water or alcohol. All the white and colored ones I have tried have gone on smoothly and cleaned off fairly easily and well. I recommend checking your markers on a small part of the board before doing an entire picture or phrase with them. We use this chalkboard to write a weekly quote, phrase, or Bible verse. My son and I discuss which phrase or verse we want to use. We try to base them on what is going on in our lives. I pick a few and let him choose the one he likes best. It is a nice way to discuss life and things we need to work on or remember. Sometimes we have quotes about working hard, verses about having hope, or sayings about family... or honoring your mother and father. I bought this product at full price for my own use.

We love this chalkboard! I purchased this board to make a ‘first day of school’ sign. I wanted to have a blank board so I could use it around our home for the remainder of the year as a calendar, quote, or reminder board. I have not tried traditional chalk with this board, but it worked wonderfully with chalk markers. The board appears study, well made and comes with hardware so it can be hung on the wall.

I needed a chalkboard to post the item of the day. There are high quality slate-type chalkboards and then there are painted on chalk boards. This is the latter type, but it seems to work ok. It isn't the super cheap garbage and it seems to hold up well. Not great, but not expensive. I'm satisfied for the price I paid. I'd probably spend more if I could be certain I was getting a high quality board instead.

I like writing down the week's menu in my kitchen, and this board is the perfect size. The wood finish frame looks sophisticated, not like a child's chalkboard, and the black surface is deep and rich. I used this with Prang chalk purchased on Amazon and it writes smoothly, and cleans off easily with a dry rag. Do note that the surface is pretty smooth, unlike a 'traditional' chalkboard that has a green tinge and gets powdery with use. Overall I'm very pleased with the purchase!

We’ve used the 14” square version of this chalkboard on our refrigerator for 5 years now. We glued extra powerful ceramic magnets on the back of it to keep it on place and use a pencil grip with a glued on magnet to hold the chalk. It’s the best! I use Crayola chalk and it writes beautifully and erases perfectly with any dry cloth. My husband just made a patio dartboard backdrop (out of our old fence wood) so we bought 4 more of these in the 8.5” x 11” size for keeping score. It’s a covered patio so I hope these will be ok outside. We’ll see!
