Uniden D1680 Cordless Phone with Answering system

This system has a host of improvements over my earlier system. One is that all handsets now "share" information - so if you input your phone book in ONE handset, it's now available to ALL handsets. Similarly, information on missed calls and caller ID shows up on all handsets. A second is the ability to put the phone into "sleep" mode (which, again, affects all the handsets and can be done from any set). Previously, if you wanted to actually turn the phone off completely (so that it would not ring anywhere and so that you wouldn't hear the message coming on), the only option was to unplug it. You can put this version to sleep - which is great when you're trying to avoid being disturbed at dinner (or early in the morning on a Saturday) by telemarketers. Messages will still come in, but you won't hear them until you "wake it up." It also works very well with caller ID (it seems to store about 43 numbers). My only complaint about this model is that it's much more difficult to figure out how to redial a number you recently called.

As advertised! My phone base went kaput and I didn't want to get another model since I had four handsets that were working just fine but was inoperable without a base. The price was fine and product was in good shape and fine working order for a used phone and base!

Bought this to replace older Uniden Dect 6.0 phones that were having problems (batteries not holding charge, bad buttons). Very disappointed in this newer equipment. With old Uniden, would get a "searching" message periodically -- once every week or two. This would show up before placing a call, very rarely during a call. With these Uniden D1680-3 phones, do not see a "seaching" message -- phones simply go dead in the middle of a call (about once per day!). About 50% of the time, the phone will restore itself (haven't lost the call, just neither party could hear the other). The rest of the time the call has to be redialed. Uniden emphasizes not returning the product, but to call their service line. Did so. This problem must be frequent -- they even have a special recording for it. Had already tried all of the things the recording suggested, except their last suggestion -- replace the phones with something else!!! So, I guess that is what I will do.

I originally ordered one set of phone (three). Then I accidentally dropped one in a sink filled with water. I not only wanted to replace that phone (it did not work once it dried out), but I wanted two additional phones. It is less expensive to purchase an additional base with the three receivers than it is to purchase extension phones. I was able to register the three extensions with the original base without a problem. Just be sure the phones are fully charged before registering them. (The instructions do not state this.) If they are not fully charged, they will not register. First, I plugged in the new base and unregistered the phones from that base. Then I registered them with the original base. They all work great!

This phone is easy to use, and easy to set up. The global feature lets you configure from any phone for the entire system. The operating frequencies it uses means pretty clear call quality and if you combine it with VOIP, like I did, it means crystal clear calling. The construction could be better, but it's pretty solid for the price. The 12 hour initial charge for the batteries felt a bit old fashioned; you'd think they could come up with a faster charging system by now. Overall, not bad.

90 days later Phone still is working fine..No issues with quality I purchased this to replace a VTech CS6229-3 DECT 6.0 Cordless Phone, Silver/Black, 3 Handsets answering/speakerphone system and I'm although I'm fairly happy with this unit it does not compare to the Vtech. The speakerphone handset on the vtech is one of the best in the under $100 price range and the feature on the uniden is okay at best. it cuts in and out often. The answering machine and handset phone work fine as is expected. Clarity is on par with the vtech..maybe a notch above. If speakerphone handset is a feature you'll be using I would look elsewhere

This unit is just what I was looking for in a home telephone, good ring tones, budget friendly, sounds great and clear, easy to read instructions and the phone has good features not to mention it's saving me $75.00 a year not to have my local Voice mail service on my phone. I only paid $20.99 with Free shipping for this phone brand new. For everyone that seemed to be having a hard time with this phone as it was very simple for me to use this phone, read the instructions, then read it with the phone in front of you and follow everything step, by step that is the easiest way to understand how to use anything you buy. Phone sound is unclear when on a call. Would not buy this again. Definitely overpaid for this.
