My Mac is only about a year and a half old, and lettering on two keys was substantially gone. I had hesitated to buy a skin, though, because a lot of reviewers said it slowed them down, but that only happened for me for about the first ten minutes of using it; it's just a different feeling, and once I was used to it, it is somewhat pleasant, and I TYPE JUST AS FAST.It also makes it easier to keep the keyboard clean, but most importantly, IT MAY HAVE SAVED MY PRECIOUS FROM DEATH BY WATER SPILL! I have never spilled any liquid on a keyboard, but only hours after I received this skin, I knocked a few ounces of bottled water *right* on the keyboard. It would have helped to take the cover off faster, but I was in the middle of a meeting when it happened, panicking, and didn't know what I was supposed to do! It kept working for a few minutes, 'til the screen went grey and the Spinning Beach Ball of Death appeared. Long story short, there were a couple of terrible hours of Googling solutions on my phone (Man, some of those people in the Apple forums are some unhelpful, negative jerks, huh?), blow drying it, bemoaning my lack of a backup (I know, I know), and obsessing about the deadlines for work that was sitting on my desktop, inaccessible. But the blow drying worked - though I had to do it a few more times to get it to work for longer than a few minutes - and I have since purchased an external hard drive, and finally Time Machine this baby on the regular. BUT I do TRULY CREDIT THIS SKIN FOR STOPPING A LOT OF THE WATER from getting in through the keyboard. It could have been much, much worse, so I am very grateful, even though that is not its purpose.P.S. My letters line up perfectly with the skin (yet I can't see the worn out ones!), and I am also thankful for the free extra skin that came with this one. I love the ombre on this keyboard protector so I have purchased this exact one twice (it wears out after about a year of heavy use). It's well worth it, though, for the great protection. I am constantly eating around my laptop and would have ruined the keyboard several times over if it weren't for these keyboard covers.This seller sends an additional keyboard cover (blank) with the one I've ordered both times. I wore through the same keys as I had before the skin, so I had to get a new one. The iBenzer, same type of skin, is now $17.00 so I decided to go with another brand.This DHZ gradient blue one I received fit perfectly, feels right and is under $7. This one came with a skin attached to it, minus the color and with an orange outline on each key. I'm figuring I received a bonus, two for the price of one.
