WORX Cordless Pole Saw, 20V 8" Chainsaw, WG349.9
Paid for itself in one day. I'm in my mid 70s. I have an electric pole chainsaw (different brand and can be used off the pole) that I can no longer use with it extended to it's full length. It's just too heavy. This WORX pole saw is not too heavy for me, even fully extended. I was able to clear some limbs in one afternoon that I would not have been able to do otherwise and for less money that it would have cost me to hire someone to do. I still have at least that much more to do. If you have the strength to hold up a tool like this, it should be quite useful for you. The unit is of excellent quality. I have been using WORX tools for some time now and while they may have lots of plastic on them, it is high quality, durable plastic. I have not concerns that the clamps on the extensions will fail or allow the pole to collapse while in use. As to battery use, I only had to use one 2AH battery for all that I cut with this saw. I would suggest a 4AH battery if you have a lot to do and don't want to wait for a smaller battery to charge in the middle of a task. I have lots of WORX tools and batteries, so it's not an issue for me. The saw is not going to be easy to lift for a lot of folks. I may be in my 70s, but I'm in excellent shape, even considering arthritis in my shoulders and one elbow. My wife made one attempt to lift the unit off a table (without batteries) and said no way. Consider very carefully your ability to use a tool like this before you purchase it. It's an electric saw, small though it is, on the end of a long pole when extended. That's a lot for some folks to handle.

Good for around the yard
There's been several reviews that mention the chain coming undone, yes, that happened to me too, but only once or twice. After you learn how to tension the chain, it doesn't happen much after that. You do have to take a safety cover off the saw to access the chain and put it back into place, if you're good around tools, it's not rocket science to do. It says the saw has "auto tensioning", if mine does, it might not be working right. After a few cuts, I adjust the chain anyway just to be safe. I found that after awhile, the tension stayed constant, so maybe auto tensioning does work after all. It doesn't come with chain oil, so you have to buy that, it doesn't cost much, but if you're going to use this once in awhile anyway, a quart should last you. It's WAY lighter than the other pole saws that are basically just a small electric chainsaw mounted on a pole. The saw does NOT remove from the end of the pole like some others do. Even though it's pretty light weight, you still have to find the balance spot on the pole to keep control of it. It would've been nice if WORX built in some kind of neck strap. Now the best part, if you already have 20v WORX tools, the battery WILL fit this saw. You can buy JUST the saw and save a few bucks. I was able to make MANY cuts without changing or charging the battery ! Nice, very nice. It's NOT a pro grade pole saw, but for a little DIY tree trimming around the house, I got my moneys worth.

Please do not buy this pole saw
I have been trying to trim Pygmy Date palms. It's cumbersome, difficult to hold it up at the front to support the weight and turn it on at the end... The chain came off several times. I spent a lot of time reviewing the product, (days) and I'm sure I have the tension figured out...so maybe the tensioning screw is just not capable of keeping the tension tight for more than 10 seconds. As far as cutting...It will not even cut dry parts of palm trees. It did cut a few of the leaves, but not easily. The leaves aren't very wide or hard to cut. I cut some leaves that were about 3 feet off the ground and had all these problems with not cutting small branches (leaves). I bought it for cutting ones about 8-10 feet tall and I am sure there is no way this could possibly reach up that high and cut anything. After spending 2 days reading the manual, and reviewing all the parts, before operating it, I will tell you, please DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. My husband was using this saw 5 years ago. I found him laying in the yard, next to a ladder and the saw was on the ground near him. He died 5 days later of a head injury. He never spoke after I found him, so I have no way of knowing if he was on the ladder using the saw. I decided to try to figure out using the saw myself recently, and after I did so, I think that possibly he was using the saw, and that he was on a ladder trying to get the saw to work. It just doesn't work well that I can tell, so please don't buy this saw, and definitely do not use it on a ladder!!

Works wonderfully but is a bit heavy
I purchased this tree trimmer for the very large pine tree in my yard. I was amazed after this trimmer cut five large branches off the tree and the battery still said it had 2/3-full charge. I wish it came with a small bottle of chain oil but I had some in the shed that worked fine anyways. Besides it's lack of coming with a bottle of oil and the trimmer being a bit heavy, I can't say enough good things about it. It extends out very long, battery life is fantastic, it's safe, easy to put together and use. I would highly recommend this to others.

Heavy and difficult to use.
Very heavy and acword to use.

I would recommend this item.
Easy to work. Does what itโs supposed to do. Works with all my other batteries. It is heavier than expected, especially since youโre using it up in the air. If youโre shorter, it becomes a bit awkward to handle.

Not perfect but reasonably effective
Was ready for bar oil and a battery and a job to do ... cut small branches easily and did not bounce much unless it was nearly straight up perpendicular to the ground. Not sure this can be fixed but opportunities for improvement might solve a few things for me A- the telescope pole on my saw tended to collapse a bit, shortening the reach. I may not have tightened something but I thought the cam levers would lock the extensions in place.... but gravity and vibration was stronger than the cam lock friction. B- It's pretty heavy feeling when trying to go a little higher by extending one's arms. C- due to the weight of the motor and blade assembly, it would be difficult to control if the unit had 20-30 feet of extension poles..... so it's limited to about 10-12 feet of elevation..,. including about 5 feet from ground to shoulders..., and about 5-7 feet from the saw itself..... depending on how much risk you take by moving the saw closer to perpendicular. D-When the pole is at a 30-40 degree angle ..,you really feel the weight of the saw when the branch supporting the saw is fully cut and it falls. The saw falls and the leverage of the pole exaggerates the weight.

Product is great...
Product is great, but somewhat tiresome for those who are not physically in shape to use in for a long period of time. Definitely gets the job done. Exactly as shown, and does work with the other WORX 20V battery if you have one, at least it does with ours from the pruner tool.

Very good product
For people like me who already have a mini Arsenal of Worx stuff it's perfect, this was my 5th product from Worx, and like other 0 problems so far. It cuts me very well my trees.

FLAWED
Used it twice in the context of pruning fruit trees. Started slipping (I assume a gear inside is too weak and stripped) I am satisfied with my other Worx tools but I definitely do not recommend the purchase of this pole saw

powerful and easy to handle with 2 a/h battery
Works well except the oil pump didn't work, so the chain was running dry. Obviously not checked at factory. A fast exchange by Amazon solved that.

Gear stripped on 2nd use.
** Update** I chatted with Customer Support on Monday and they immediately sent out a new one. So I updated the review with a couple stars for their excellent service. Absolutely no hassle at all. First time I used it I thought it was great cut through branches great. Using the weight of the saw was an advantage for cutting branches but useless for topping off small trees. Went to use it this morning and it stripped a gear or something. Now I'm trying customer support and have to call during business hours just to get my complaint heard. Bought a few worx tools over the last few years an really loved them. They need to rethink this whole design. Because I was disappointed that you can't lose the pole and use it as a handheld, I bought a cheap 8in handheld that came with 2 batteries for $100 and that can saw through 8 inch trees!!! Very disappointed of the quality of this product since I bought into the Worx name. Hopefully they will stand behind it but it ain't helping me with what I wanted to do today.
