A little smaller than palm size maybe? You mix it with water and dish soap and it makes quite a bit each time. However I think we got only 5 or 6 uses out of it. I'd definitely recommend buying the refills if you are going to use it frequently. The product itself is loads of fun and great entertainment. Some of the bubbles are massive!! Then your trouble is most likely the weather. Especially the humidity. Try again---Go to weather.com and choose a cool, not windy day, with humidity 75% or higher. Ideal conditions are 40 degrees temperature, 3 miles per hour breeze, and 98% humidity. You'll get bubbles on most days (unless you live in a desert), but you'll get biggest of all in good bubble weather! Also, there's no need for the kids to get slimey.
