I purchased these nice cooler backpacks a month ago and we just had ...
I purchased these nice cooler backpacks a month ago and we just had an opportunity to use them this past week when my family came in for vacation. We planned an afternoon trip to the zoo and packed lunches. The bottom zippered compartment of the backpack is a spacious cooler constructed of ThermoGuard Insulation and holds a great deal. I had purchased the Lunch Blox Kit and the Salad Blox Kit for each backpack and these fit nicely side by side in the cooler compartment. Rubbermaid Lunch Blox, 2-Pk Rubbermaid Lunch Blox - Salad Kit The zippered pocket on the front of the cooler worked well for carrying a wallet, sunglasses and my iPhone 6 Plus which was a bit too large to fit in the cell phone pocket on the strap. There are large mesh pockets on each side of the cooler which we used to carry our water bottles. The top compartment of the backpack, which has a drawstring closure, is cloth, front and back, and mesh on the sides which allows for breathability and makes for less weight overall. We carried our cooling towels, sunscreen and bug repellant there. A flap covers the drawstring compartment and buckles closed right above the cooler. It too has a zippered pocket which offers additional storage. Even after loading our backpacks, we still found them to be lightweight and manageable. The two inch adjustable straps with mesh lining fit comfortable on our backs. We had everything we needed at our disposal for our afternoon adventure. I am very pleased with my purchase and look forward to the next opportunity to use this great little bag. I recommend this cooler backpack to anyone who is planning a hike, trip to the park, splash pad, zoo…… you name it.

Great cooler bag and customer service
I've purchased this bag three times for myself and once as a gift. I use this bag daily, to carry my groceries which is fantastic to hold freezer and refrigerated items in the summer. The carrying capacity holds about two brown bags worth of items, one bag's worth in the cooler section, one bag's worth in the top, netted section. I also use it as a gym bag, since the plastic cooler area is easy to wipe down and keep clean. In this aspect, I can't recommend this bag enough, as I've worn my bags down to shreds. They last at least 2-3 years of daily use before I need to buy another. But why buy another, since they have a lifetime guarantee? I personally feel these "lifetime" guarantees should be for the expected lifetime of the product. Not my entire life! I think the company has a great product, and I'll support them to stay in business. As one can see from my last paragraph, I use the bag way more than intended (which works extremely well as an actual picnic bag.) HOWEVER, my last purchase did have some defects to it. It was like I got a rare lemon: the zipper popped off on the top flap, the stitching started to come out of one of the straps, then the other. All within a few months of purchase. I was worried about Picnictime's lifetime guarantee because frankly, who can really trust the current definition of a "lifetime" for a company? I contacted Picnictime directly through email, and explained my problem along with sending pictures of the defects. They gave me no hassles, and immediately sent me another bag. Fantastic! But then...fed ex messes up the delivery and it gets sent back. I was once again worried I wouldn't get a replacement or I would have to pay for shipping this time around, but I feel that Shannon went above and beyond by looking into a fedex drop site that I could pick up a second delivery, and this time kept me up to date with info regarding the delivery so I can track it myself, without any extra charges! Thank you very much Shannon, I got my replacement (with minor issues over at FedEx again ...sigh... but this time I was prepared!) Tl;Dr: Great product and wonderful customer service experience!

Perfect for Motorcycles/Bikes!
My fiancé rides his Motorcycle to and from work everyday so I figured he could use this to take his lunch in and also carry a change of clothes in case he gets rained on. He absolutely loves it! I only gave it 4 stars because there are some things about it that could be improved in my opinion. The top pouch is great for putting a change of clothes in there but there is netting on either side so if he gets caught in the rain then his clothes will get wet. This of course could be prevented if you pack the clothes in a plastic bag or large zip lock bag before putting it in the pouch so that's not to big of an issue. The material of the back pack feels a bit cheap but he has used it every day for about a month and nothing has ripped or broken so far. The cooler portion is a decent size. I can fit a substantial amount of food in there along with his ice packs. All in all I'd say for the price this is a pretty awesome product. There isn't really much to complain about. I'm glad I purchased this for him, he is really happy with it and it makes his commute to work much easier and much more enjoyable.

Transitioned from 2 strollers to "the backpack"
Used our new backpack for the first time this past weekend and fell in LOVE! We ordered two right away but only received one in time for our family fun day. I wish I would've taken pictures to show you all the stuff I put inside this thing, it was amazing!! We have 6 children and decided to venture to Universal Studios with wait for it...NO STROLLERS! First time in 15 years! We always pack snacks and bring a large cooler to store lunches and cold drinks/snacks as well which was big and bulky with no way to fold when empty. My husband is 6' 3" and a big guy (he was nominated the lunch carrier) and it fit comfortably on his back. In the cooler section I stored 6 deli sandwiches on hard rolls, 2 1/2 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, 8 snack size packages of large grapes, 8 snack size packages of trail mix (it had chocolate in it), a sandwich bag size of sliced sausage as well as a sandwich bag size of chunks of cheese, 3 juice pouches, some condiments AND 4 small frozen ice packs. In the dry/top section, we stored 8 small bags of chips, a tube of Ritz crackers, 8 snack size bags of peanut butter pretzels, 8 snack size bags of Chex mix and fruit snacks. The front zipper compartment stored plastic silverware and napkins. That baby was FULL! But had everything we needed to eat throughout the day. I carried a smaller backpack for extra dry clothes for the little ones as well as baby wipes, sunscreen, small first aid kid and some medical supplies. All of which will go in our second backpack once we receive it but there will be room to spare! It held together nicely and wasn't really all that heavy. After all, it gets lighter throughout the day as things get eaten and it was so nice to be able to just walk behind my husband and open the bag and get what we needed rather than have to pull over, crouch down and dig until you find what you're looking for. My husband prefers his phone in his shorts pocket so did not use the cell phone pocket but I will use it when we receive the second one. And couldn't really test out the side pockets for cups because the pack was full so we shared 4 refillable drink cups between the 8 of us rather than pack 3 spill proof cups for the smaller kids so not sure how those will hold up. Overall, 16 thumbs up! #minionmayhem

Good idea, poor implementation...
I bought the Zuma Cooler Backpack to carry headphones, a book/Kindle, and odds and ends as well as my lunch. I wanted a backpack that would keep my hands free when getting in and out of my car and that would keep my lunch insulated and separate from other items. At work, I like to read and listen to music while I eat lunch, and this seemed to fit my needs perfectly. The backpack works somewhat well, but it has many downsides. The top compartment is closed by a pair of drawstrings then covered with a flap. The drawstrings aren't very effective, and when pulled tight you have to tuck them into the small opening or leave them dangling. Also, they don't stay tight. The flap is not very great either. The buckle the the flap snaps into can be adjusted but doesn't stay tight either. The insulated compartment is roomy but does not stay "rigid" - it collapses, causing the sides to bulge out. It's awkward to try to get things in and out of it, and accessing it sometimes results in items to come out of the top portion. The side pockets for drinks don't work very well either. It's hard to get a drink into them, and I've had drinks pop out while the backpack was on my back. The only thing they seem to be dependable with are the small cans of Red Bull. Finally, the straps are decent, but the carry handle sewn between the straps is not very good. When trying to use it to hold up the back while accessing either of the compartments, it causes the bag to sag and makes it harder to get anything into or out of the bag. Overall, it's a great concept that needs a fair bit of tweaking to perfect.

This is the only day-trip / picnic basket / backpack you want and need
The headline pretty much says it all, but read on if you want more. We originally purchased this 8 1/2 years ago specifically for visiting Disney World with our kids. We needed a way to carry snacks, drinks, diapers, etc. (anything you'd think you'd might need with a 4-year old and a 7-year old in tow). It performed beautifully. Diapers, wet wipes, changing mat, snack cereals, waters, fruits, you name it. We froze 4 1-liter water bottles the night before and put them, along with 4 other cold, but not frozen, water bottles in the lower portion along with some fruit and any other cold snack (cheese, chocolate). Then filled the top with crackers, nuts, diapers, hand towels, etc. and went to the park. We lacked for anything while in the park. Everything we needed was on my back. In the backpack. All the other parents in the park were jealous of it. They took pictures and began scrambling on Amazon to find their own. I probably accidentally sold 15 or 20 of these that day. It has two exterior pockets for extra items like wallets, keys, maps, tickets, or such. The pocket on the top flap is semi-protected from weather elements. While not waterproof, it's protected enough that it should keep things mostly dry in a moderate rain. The second pocket has more room. You could put belongings in a plastic bag, then in the pocket, and they'd be totally dry at the end of a day. There are also two pockets, one on each side, that can hold bottles, collapsible umbrellas, or sunscreen. I've added pictures showing the bag and how much it might hold. The bottom portion is holding 8 20-oz sports drinks and zips up nicely. The top section is pictured with 3 5-lb bags of flour and a 14.5 oz box of spaghetti noodles (for height comparison). The images are just representative of how much it could hold, not that I'm suggesting you go on your picnic with 15 pounds of flour! The bottom section is insulated to keep things cold and is one-piece so it does not leak even if drinks are spilled. In 100+ degree (Fahrenheit) temperatures in Florida sun, we still had cool drinks at the end of a 9-hour park visit. We have visited a theme park at least once a year since then and have always taken it with us. Add in the uncountable number of visits to the kids' sporting events and I feel that I've gotten outstanding use of the item. The backpack is still going strong. We also use it on the boat, for picnics, day trips, etc. One drawback I can think of is that each portion doesn't really stand up on its own and will collapse somewhat if empty. So, if there is little or nothing in the bottom, but the top still has a good amount of items in it, the bottom portion collapses somewhat making it difficult to operate one-handed. But, put two hands on it and and it still works like a breeze. You could purchase a plastic box-type item to place in each compartment to keep it standing upright if this bothers you. It really has never been a problem for us. I'd say that I'd buy it again, but after nearly a decade of use, it doesn't appear to need replacing. And just one seems to be enough for a family of four. This may have been one of the smartest, well-timed purchases I have ever made.

Diaper bag and picnic bag in one!
I am in love with this backpack! I bought it because we are going on a family vacation and we have small kids and we are packing our lunch. I thought it would be great if I could have a backpack where I could store our lunch and also the diaper bag items in separate spaces. And I also wanted the lunch compartment to be insulated! Well, this is it! And much more! In the insulated compartment I had: 3 sandwiches, a kids snack cup, a bottle, a kids sippy cup, two clementines, a coconut water carton, two ice packs and still had plenty of space. In the upper compartment I had: two thin bath towels. Diapers, set of clothes for baby, sunscreen, kids hats and more. I also had two water bottles on the sides and still had both outer pockets available. this bag is light and fits well on the body. Perfect for what we need and amazing for the price. The mesh side looks like it needs to be handled with care, but again, for the price, I couldn't be happier!

A Real Improvement on the Turismo
This product is a real improvement in both functionality and insulation over its predecessor the Turismo. I owned a previous Picnic Time lunch backpack, the aforementioned Turismo, and my main problems with it were that the food pocket was entirely too large for my purpose, bring my lunch to work everyday, and its insulation was never all that effective. It was a fine product despite these deficiencies, but never perfect for my use. With this new product Picnic Time has really addressed the flaws from my perspective. The pack itself is roughly the same size as its predecessor, but now the storage area has been split. The bottom is an insulated lunch carry compartment. Addressing the insulation, it has been improved, and the material that lines the area is a more conventional vinyl lining I have seen in similar products, contrasting the canvas lining of the Turismo. More importantly though, the smaller size allows me to pack it more efficiently and completely, and by doing this I am better able to optimize that insulation it does have. The top half of the pack is now devoted to an extremely useful mesh style storage area. I have been able to pack up gloves and hat, a metal insulated hydration bottle, and various and sundry random items that have have need to cart to work. Between a better insulated compartment, and the new storage compartment I really feel like this is a great product that can meet a lot of folks needs.

A great and very functional backpack!
This backpack is fabulous. It fits a substantial amount of food. I work twelve hour days, so I often need to pack breakfast, lunch and supper. I wish that the insulated part in the bottom could completely detach so I could put that part in the fridge if I so desire, but otherwise, I have no complaints. It is well constructed and fits comfortably on my back.
