Every household should have these!
These nightlights/emergency backup lights/flashlights are just what we needed. As a nightlight it functions as dawn to dusk. It has a sensor. When it gets dark, they turn on automatically. Also noticed that they have dimming capabilities that automatically adjust on their own depending on the darkness of the room. The darker it gets, the brighter the lights become. As a nightlight, you have 3 settings. One is for dim, one is for bright and the other is for off. When the power goes out, they automatically go into an even brighter mode. You can even remove it from the outlet and it becomes a flashlight. The backup batteries are actually 3 AA Energizer Max (included) which I think is better than rechargeable batteries because they will last up to 250 hours vs 6 hours. Love the fact that you can plug them in either with the light facing down towards the floor or up towards the ceiling. We have the ones in the kitchen facing up so they double as under cabinet lighting. Ones in the hallways, entryways/exits are facing down so you can see where you're walking. Also have a couple in the dining, living, family room and bathrooms. We initially purchased 6 and loved them so much we purchased 6 more! We can literally walk through our entire house with the all the primary lights off with ease. No more looking for a flashlight or phone in the dark when the power is out! We also realized God forbid there's a house fire, these lights may also help guide us towards the exits since we have some plugged in on the lower outlets next to all the entryways. Also, living in a state with frequent hurricanes and power outages, these are definitely a must have. It's definitely worth the money and highly recommend!

Exactly what I was looking for!
After the power went out in the middle of the night again, and my wife and I ran around the house setting up electronic candles in the kids' rooms to make sure they could see if they woke up, I realized we needed to do something different. I researched several models of power-failure nightlights. I quickly ruled *most* of them out because I didn't want to be dependent on a cheap-junk internal rechargeable battery that may die within a few months (according to some reviews), and would definitely die within a couple of years, regardless. That would necessitate buying a whole new light! I was excited to find this model that used standard, cheap AA batteries that I could replace whenever I needed (e.g. at the same time as I replace my smoke detector batteries). I found a grey-looking model at my local walmart that turned out to be an exact copy of this light at the same price. Tried it out at home, and found the low setting to be the *perfect* brightness for the living room, behind the recliner in our nursery, at the foot of our stairs, and in our master bathroom. I loved that I could unplug it and turn it off during the day, as I have to do that so my kids don't pull it out and play with it. I loved that the ones I didn't have to unplug were sensitive enough to light to turn off during the day, even behind the recliner in the nursery. I hopped on Amazon and purchased 2 more 2-packs of this white GE-branded one for a total of 5 lights. We *love* them! My only criticism is that there is very little diffusion of the light; if you are situated above the light looking down at it, it is quite bright, even on the low setting -- too bright for our tastes in our bedroom at night. However, as I'm writing this, it occurrs to me I should be able to plug it in facing down, solving that issue. I'll give that a shot tonight! Overall, I'm extremely pleased with these lights, and *highly* recommend them! I hope they will last me for many years to come, through any power outages we may have.

Liked these so much I ordered another pair.
Not sure what some of the negative reviewers received, but it doesn't sound like they are reviewing the GE 4-in-1 LED Power Failure Light. There are complaints about motion sensing not working, and this review even asked me to rate that feature. These lights do not have a motion sensor; they have a light sensor. They come on when it's dark, and turn off when it's bright enough to see without them. That feature works great. Other reviews complained about battery life while plugged in. These do not use the batteries while plugged in if there is power to the outlet. Don't believe me? You can take the batteries out and it still works fine as a regular night light. Also, the batteries are included, you do not need to spend more money to buy them. When the time comes that I DO need to replace them, I always have a big box of Amazon Basics AA batteries in the house anyway, since those are used in so many other devices in the home. These lights work exactly as described. They function as a regular nightlight in everyday use. They keep working even when the power goes out. My only tiny quibble is they are a bit bigger than regular night lights because of the 3 AA batteries. I love that they also work as a small flashlight. They are not super bright, but 60 lumens on high is enough light to find your way around a dark house. I now have 4 of them around the house, so even if I just need a little extra light real quick, there is always one nearby and easy to find.

I bought this product considering the quality standards of GE. But it was a big disappointment for me. In just after 2 months of operation, it stopped working. The power failure mode stopped working. It is now only working as a night lamp. The price was more than 2000 rupees. Total waste of money. I think a well reputed company like GE should not do this to customers.

I received this light yesterday and it definitely meets my expectations. I wanted a power failure night light for all the usual reasons plus to help my older dog see at night. It's exactly what I needed. The light is quite bright, which is great, and can also be dimmed. I like that it uses external batteries in the event of a long power outage. A rechargeable night light usually only lasts a few hours when the power fails and then goes dead with no way to recharge again. I just need to remember to get a few extra battery packs for the winter. Otherwise, as a night light, it plugs directly into the wall and runs on electricity instead of batteries. Note that the night light does need to be switched on in order to stay lit if the power goes out. I've plugged mine in under my desk close to the dog bed so my boy can see and I can still get to sleep at night. As long as this product holds up over time I'll be very happy. If you're on the fence read through all the product information carefully. It seems like the negative reviews are from folks who weren't fully aware of the product details, but the description is fully accurate from my perspective. I'll post a future update if we have a power loss as battery usage, etc. But for now I highly recommend this light and would purchase it again for other rooms. Five stars.

it comes with a US plug. It's not rechargeable, as the batteries inside are not rechargeable. Even if it was, it works on 110V. Triple A (Avoid Avoid Avoid). Return is also slighlty more complicated as it comes from the US.

Muy útiles como luz de noche o luz de emergencia con baterías adicionales.
