A real (and very well-coiffed) superhero gets turned into a potato by his nemesis. He still has his superpowers, but now he's a potato! I had fun reading it and I'm 44. In fact when he looked in the mirror he would ask, “Who’s the handsomest superhero of them all?” Now that’s vain, superhero super vain, that’s what. Doctor Malevolent was back at his old tricks while Super Max was admiring himself in the mirror. The General informed him that the old Doctor had “stolen a priceless statue from the city museum.” Such a thief that guy was, but before flying on over to remedy the situation, he had to comb his hair (of course).Off into the dark night went superhero Super Max to foil Doctor Malevolent’s plans. Malevolent’s “secret hideout” was really no secret and Super Max had to “break down the door every single time.” It was no surprise that Malevolent was waiting for Max and the only one who was surprised when that door went over was a house mouse. A cage quickly came down over Super Max when Doctor Malevolent pressed a button. Duh! Nothing can hold back a superhero and any kid can tell you that, but wait ... there was a real surprise in store for the super vain superhero!Doctor Malevolent got out his “ultimate weapon” and began to blast away at Super Max. Bzzzzzzzzt! Bzzzzzzzzt! and Bzzzzzzzzt! again. The once super handsome, super vain superhero was some ugly (really ugly). “A potato!” Doctor Malevolent laughed evilly, “I’ve changed you into a potato!” Super Max was nothing but a bald potato with nothing super about him at all. Instead of Super Max he was “Super Potato,” a spud who was tossed to the curb. Waaaaah!It was rotten potatoes for sure! Super Potato began to cry buckets, barrels even. Why he cried so much there was a puddle on the ground in front of him. He started walking “across the street without looking first ... which you should never do” because you could get flattened by a truck (which almost happened). Super Potato, formerly Super Max, began to test out his super powers. Did he still have it in him? Was he going to be able to leap tall buildings and defeat evil villains like Doctor Malevolent or was he just going to be a baked potato?This is one super silly, superhero tale that young readers will definitely enjoy. Instead of your usual superhero, the amazingly good looking guy or gal, with incredible superpowers we now have a quirky, unusual one ... Super Potato. Many children in this age group, especially the graphic novel fans, will fall in love with Super Potato.
