The Legacy Collection is Walt Disney Records line of collectible CDs, celebrating the anniversaries of Disney's most cherished and classic properties that have been enchanting audiences for generations. To honor these musical landmarks, this collection features the beloved original soundtracks, plus valuable documentary content that tells the story behind the music. Review: Excellent Treatment of a Lovely Film Score - I really like Disney's 33rd animated film "Pocahontas", but I would be lying if I said that I considered it to be "Classic" Disney and that it was in the same tier as "Sleeping Beauty" and "Cinderella" and other timeless films. But if I'm not talking about the overall film and only analyzing musical scores, I honestly believe that the score by Menken and Schwartz belongs in the top tier of Disney movie scores. The release of this beautiful film score as part of the Legacy Collection deserves the highest of marks. I will give you the top three reasons why you should pick up this edition of the score: 1) The completeness of the score here surpasses the earlier clipped release. Here, you get many, many more minutes of pure orchestral enjoyment, including the lovely Pocahontas/John Smith duet "If I Never Knew You". 2) Clarity of the sound. There are a few vocal songs in this film (Virginia Company and Mine, Mine, Mine) whose lyrics are rapid and difficult to understand. Not so with this release. The difference is remarkable. The score is crystal clear and one notices a heavier drum,a richer clarinet, a sweeter flute and a more tearful violin than heard in the previous release. Judy Kuhn sounds like she's singing in your living room and she has never sounded better than in this release. You can hear so much emotion in her voice because the recording is so pristine. 3) The extra demos. Normally, these don't excite me and I often think "No wonder they were cut from the film" but these demos are actually very good and I enjoyed imagining how they would have looked as part of the film, and honestly, I hoped that some of them would have been polished up and included in the film. I guest a fourth reason to pick up this version is the beautiful presentation of the art work, lyrics, and history of the score and film in the booklet. This is a wonderful keepsake and while this is my first purchase of any Disney CD in the Legacy Collection, I am going to purchase a few others. I can only hope that they will be as good as this one. UPDATE: Sadly, my first copy had a skip on the CD so I returned it to desertcart. They were great and sent me another copy...my 2nd copy had the exact same error! This may be a defective pressing on Disney's part. First disc, last song "I'll never see him again" would not play without skipping on both of my copies. Review: Fantastic!!! - I was so excited when I saw Disney was releasing a complete soundtrack series and I was especially delighted for Pocahontas' release because as a child she was my favorite heroine. And to top it off, the score was gorgeous! I was singing "Colors of the Wind" by heart by the time I was six and the film had barely been released on video, lol. While the original soundtrack release got better treatment than many other releases, it is still amazing to hear the missing pieces of the score. "The meeting at the river's edge" especially. And I love that they included the love song "If I Never Knew you" that was cut from the original film and then re-added. Unlike other cut songs that were put back into films (I'm particularly looking at Lion King), it fits seamlessly into the film without disrupting the flow and gives just a bit more to the romance. I always found it odd Pocahontas and John didn't have a love song, but as a child I found they didn't really need it. Their love was strong and the instrumental of the love song carried beautifully with the animation and dialogue. But having it added has only made me love the film and score more! My only complaint is that the score had to be broken up between the two discs because its just that long, and they didn't have as many demos and stuff like The Little Mermaid or even The Lion King did. Otherwise this CD release is five stars!

Pocahontas Legacy Lives On
The Walt Disney Records Legacy Collection of Pocahontas is a glorious release featuring the entire beautiful and sweeping Alan Menken score and Stephen Schwartz lyrics. I've always been a fan of the film Pocahontas and it's music, however after listening to this complete score I have a newfound appreciation and love for it. Hearing the songs unedited and complete as they were intended was a joy to listen to. This is what the Legacy Collection is all about and this release has become my favorite. I'm in love with the cut songs that are presented on Disc Two. The alternate version of "Just Around the Riverbend" is a fascinating listen as you get an idea of story elements that were either cut or expanded upon in this version. Another highlight is the beautiful song "In the Middle of the River". I'm so glad these demo songs were included. They are just as brilliant as the original songs. The included reprise of "If I Never Knew You" in the track "Farewell" gives the score a surging endnote that I hadn't truly appreciated until my listen through. The illustrations included in the booklet are just as beautiful as the music. The booklet also contains production notes for an even closer look at the making of this Disney classic. I highly recommend picking up a copy to enrapture yourself in this masterwork from Alan Menken & Stephen Schwartz.

My Favorite Disney Soundtrack
This is my favorite Disney soundtrack! I have literally been waiting since the Lion King one came out for this one to come. While I think the actual story could have used a little more punch, I think this is Disney's best movie overall as the complete soundtrack from beginning to end is perfect. I haven't listened to this whole CD yet, but I was so excited I'm writing what I think so far then updating later. I originally bought the soundtrack that came out in the 1990's and admittedly, it is better for casual listening. This one literally has all the music and so doesn't flow quite as well as the clipped earlier version, but I knew that coming in. The thing I love about this one is it is louder and clearer that the previous on so I don't have to turn my radio up as loud. One complaint I do have is that the first song "Virginia Company" is actually 3 songs on the original soundtrack. Other than that this is a great album and movie.

Hier darf man u.a. Diese sind die Popversionen zu „If I never knew You“ und „Colors of the Wind“.

If I Never Knew Youが再現される部分が加わっており、欠けていたパズルのピースが埋まった感じがします。
